You do amazing work! I wish you could work on mine, it's a 1979 300D that I adore. My uncle purchased it in 1979 as a garage demo, I was with him and I purchased it from him many years ago. I am in Canada but the car has never seen winter. It does have little quirks to fix that I am sure you could do wonders for...

Wow! I did stuff like this on my 82 Peugeot 505 turbodiesel, my 85 300d, and my 98 Volvo S90. My Peugeot had fiber optic lines from a bulb under the dash. I replaced that bulb once. I had that car from 1990 till 2001. The longest I have ever owned a car. When I bought my mercedes, the wood strips on the dash were missing except that glove box piece. I found them under the seat. I went to the dealer, and they gave me a little can of two part epoxy to glue them on with. They said that's what they use. None of the switches gave me any trouble, so I never had to do anything with them. I think I had the original Becker in it. I never knew those dash lights were on fiber optic lines since I never had to open that part up. My Volvo window switches gave me trouble, so I opened them up and cleaned them, and used a metal nail file to clean the points in them. They worked well after that. The window switches on my 01 e320 gave me trouble, but those are all four made on a frame, and the mirror and trunk lid switch are made onto that frame also. I could never find one with the trunk switch, though, so I just put up with the finicky switches. I could not get into them to fix them. I guess that trunk switch was optional. I really enjoyed fixing things like these on my cars.

Good job on the trim removal. Where do you source the Beckers? I need to replace the aftermarket unit in my 380SL.

If you don't have your original Becker you can buy them on eBay and then send them to Becker for repair in New Jersey.

Do you know if there is any sort of adapter that you can use on the factory radio to have handsfree Bluetooth phone connectivity? Perhaps in the original car phone adapter slot…

Yes there are adapters you can plug into your cigarette lighter that tune to a radio station and they work fantastic. We actually have the radios opened up and a Bluetooth module installed internally.

@@woodsandbarclay for the phone or just Bluetooth audio streaming?

Bluetooth audio streaming I'm not familiar with anything you can do for hands-free calling but I'm sure there's a device out there. The ones that you plug into your cigarette lighter can be made to work with hands-free calling I'm just not sure how good it is.

@@landsky5925 it is very expensive to properly restore a vehicle. The cars are also expensive to buy, I have never purchased a cheap Mercedes. If you want a classic Mercedes in outstanding condition that has been restored properly that is an expensive process :)
