In this video I review a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that, surprisingly, still has less than 100,000 miles on it. I personally really enjoyed driving this car and thought that what it lacks for in performance, it makes up for in comfort.

B body GM cars were the Chevy Caprice/Impala , Buick Lesabre , Oldsmobile delta , and Pontiac Bonniville /Parisienne . All these cars are true 6 seater passenger cars with a RWD- full-frame chassis .

Same here, my Dad bought an 88 in 1984 and I learned to drive in it. Took it to college, had it until 1993. It had all the comfort and cost less than $11,000 new.

i know when oldsmobile was cancled it was in April 29, 2004 The end of the road for Oldsmobile. On April 29, 2004, the last Oldsmobile comes off the assembly line at the Lansing Car Assembly plant in Michigan, signaling the end of the 106-year-old automotive brand, America's oldest.

@@AntsCarReviews Thx for your reply Bro , umm I certainly remember some really cool cars growing up in the 70s and 80s . I always liked the extra big cars from the mid 70s or a full-size station wagon and planning on getting one down the road . I hope down the road you drive GM mid-size G bodies and Fords full and mid-sized cars of the 70s , 80s and 90s . Stay Safe ..

Honestly these cars (80s-90s) gm cars are getting more attention as time goes on. I have an 84 delta 88 optioned out to the max with the 307 ..not the big block (or diesel) that they could have had. I learned how to drive on the oldsmoboat in the 2000s and now have it stored waiting till i resurrect it. Mine is light blue, dark blue canvas roof ..only 160 km on it. My great grandfather bought it new.......I’ve had full 6 ppl in the car and honestly a car like this so big your still good with the 6ft corona virus limitations haha
@1575murray
@1575murray 3 жыл бұрын
In the 1970s most of them had the big block 455 but rising fuel prices and government CAFE regulations forced GM to downsize the cars and use smaller engines although the development of more efficient overdrive transmissions helped somewhat.

During most of my childhood in the 80's, an Oldsmobile Delta 88 was the family car. Not sure of the exact year, but it looked similar to the model in this video. It was seafoam green on the outside and had a similar color for the cloth interior. I fondly remember all the times my mom used that car to drop me off and pick me up from school and music lessons. Ours didn't have a tape deck though -- just a standard AM/FM radio. I also remember the backseat and trunk being very roomy.

Cars with over 300 horsepower are typically high-performance vehicles, The average horsepower for a new car is between 100 and 200 horsepower, depending on the model and make. For example, crossovers average 200 horsepower, midsize cars average 170 horsepower, and small SUVs average 240 horsepower. Some examples of new cars with over 300 horsepower include: 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Core This car has a 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower. 2023 Dodge Charger GT RWD This family version of the Challenger Coupe has a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 300 horsepower. 2023 Toyota Camry TRD This high-performance version of the Camry has a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 301 horsepower.

A friend of mine had this car in coupe form with the 307 and 4 speed 200 R-4 transmission and optional 3.23 towing gears. We bumped up the base timing to 22 degrees and did some tweaks to the secondary's and it would rip the rear tire loose and could effortlessly keep up with high speed traffic. It also had the factory F41 suspension and larger 70 series tires so could handle pretty good. These are great cars with much personality

The slack in the steering wheel isnt from age, its how they were designed. It makes high speed steering adjustments much easier than what you see with tight steering today.

I learned how to drive in one of those old beauties. They're designed for highway driving. They take a bit to get going from a stop, but once they're moving, they eat up the road. And you feel like you're sitting on a cloud the entire time. Cars like this are why so many families went on driving vacations, because you can sit and drive in them for a good ten hours and still feel good...not like today's cars.

Very good looking car but sad to be so downsized, I feel a bit cramped in my 1979 Olds Delta 88. Originally a diesel as they all were when sold in Finland. It had an Olds 350 gas engine when I bought it which I promptly changed to a massaged Olds 455. A fantastic road car with all new underpinnings, close in comfort of Mopar C-bodys of the 1970:s. Nothing new even comes close.

Most comfortable handling and riding car to take on a long trip. You can steer with one finger. Also the most uncomfortable car ever to be a backseat passenger in due to the miserable "ratcheting" seatbelts and odor.
