Previous owner REALLY loved their yacht. Also the fact that the owners took this boat out and really used it means it was impeccably maintained, they don't want to break down or have issues while they are out cruising. I also like the aft cockpit design, looks like it would be a great boat to fish out of.

Another great tour. Such a grand old vessel, shows the craftsmanship and time honored design from this shipyard. The owners should be congratulated on their ownership and love of this vessel and having Nautistyles show her to the world. Hi - thanks a lot. The lowest bridge clearances on the loop are about 15 feet on the New York State Canal System.This yacht would just make the Chicago River Clearances which are just a tad over 19 feet. There are actually a few different paths for the loop. The variances are basically in the Eastern US. From East to West on the Great Lakes west to Chicago to South on the Mississippi to Gulf of Mexico then back to Florida is the same for all. There is North on the Hudson River and West through the Erie Canal to the Great Lakes or continue North to the Lake Champlain Canal to Lake Champlain to the Chambly Canal to the St Lawrence River. From the St Lawrence you can go the either West to the Great Lakes or East to the Atlantic. You can go North up the Eastern US Seaboard skipping the Hudson which this yacht would have to do because it is too tall for the New York State Canal system to the St Lawrence then West to the Great Lakes. Or you can go the other way around the go North up the Mississippi from the Gulf to Chicago then West to East on the Great Lakes out the St Lawrence and South down the US Seaboard. There is also a set of Canals in Canada which I know less about. Thanks again for all the great videos

WOW! You really know your way around! Always good to know for sure!👍✌️
@MannyB-b7l2 жыл бұрын
The Chicago clearance is 19'6", which is exactly the height quoted on this boat IIRC. And you are correct, the Erie Canal has a 15'6" clearance. So you would need to cruise through Canadian waters to bypass it and access the Hudson River. The only limit on the Canadian Trent Severn Waterway is a length of 90', for the locks. No height restrictions. As a side note, most marinas along the rivers won't be able to accommodate boats longer than 42ft, so this length becomes a practical limit.
@rtbinc22732 жыл бұрын
@@MannyB-b7l This is not a practical Loop boat. You are usually looking at smaller Krogans or something like the Nordhavn 41, which was specifically sized for this sort of motoring. You can take big yachts like this if you want, but you need to account for that. That would, I imagine, be the job of the professional Captain mentioned. Though, it wouldn't break my heart to have to stop at Montreal. Nautisyles doesn't really review boats of the smaller size of most loop boats, really only Aquaholic does. He just reviewed a 46 foot Botnia Targa which is much more of the size you mention.
@janjager29063 ай бұрын
Ah, thank you! When watching I made a mental note to Google “The Loop” and “Grand Loop”. Because they were mentioned several times in other videos and now again. It took me a while to figure out it had to be some inland route and this time I decided to find out the where’s and how’s. So again, thank you. 👍

Maybe unnecessary on this boat after going thru 2 1/2 engine swaps. Can't image that much time on a hull without stabilizers. Either a real testament to the sea kindliness of a Palmer Johnson or the owner stuck to intercoastal waters.

The remaining income is $2000 pension plus $2500 wife's digital nomad remote work income for a total of $4500, for family of 4. Probably sufficient as right now I spend $3000 on Visa per month plus $2000 condo maintenance I have to pay to condo rogue board.

Just under the length limit for the Trent-Severn of 90 feet. Wow! A whole 5" clearance for the mile 300.6 bridge outside of Chicago LOL TBH, even subtracting the radar mast it doesn't LOOK that low! Oops! a 6' draft will seriously limit where you go on the loop, you'll have to take the Oswego canal up to Lake Ontario and then the Welland canal to Lake Erie since the Trent-Severn requires 5 feet or less. This would be a perfect coastal cruiser/live-aboard for anyone who loves the classic lines.

Great boat. I love these older classic style yachts, they are timeless. But - as liveaboard - I must say I prefer that 1991 Hatteras 72 you presented a couple of weeks ago. Although officially smaller, it somehow uses that liveaboard space much better. Or it is purely subjective - I get the impression it offers more space. And to these two boats I would add that 1983 Cheoy Lee 90-footer as excellent examples of old liveaboard style.

Commercials use steel, trawlers use steel (most dutch shipyard) and grp (nordhavn, fleming...) and speedboats use grp or alu. You pass from grp to steel so what about corrosion, condensation, isolation... Thanks. Forgive my english, i am from belgium.
