Brilliant stuff, thanks. Reminded me of the 60s and 70s when Roger Williamson and Frank Gardner raced in the UK and gave us hours of pleasure. I especially love the bloke with the chequered flag 😁

This brings back memories for me. I was a flaggie that week end and Mick was a bit of a hero to me as his little Escort would kill the V8's and I had an MK1 Escort myself. Great job finding these gems. Going to share this with his daughter on Facebook :D

Thanks gents for another great bit of racing history. The 2 front runners were going hard at it and there was plenty of pride on the line, with the Escort having won every race the previous 12 months. While the other chap was changing his motor to a Rotary and this was his first competitive drive since then. Lap 2, the way that Escort was power sliding out of the bowl and onto the main straight was unreal. He did it that well that you would think it was Brocky himself driving. Was just a pity that we only saw the one slide in that corner, as every lap after lap two when you could see the Escort setting up for a move , the camera would switch to Old mate Missus standing there holding his lap board uo. She must of been a local and maybe it was one of the other mothers from the kids school that was producing the program. As that's the only reason I can think of that you would cut away from the best action in a race to a middle aged woman holding up a lap board. As no one into motorsport would of done that. Well it was her 15 minutes of fame as the saying goes. The best thing about computers and modern technology is the fact that a couple of clicks with the mouse and I was able to watch the Lap 2 power slide over and over again. Great to see this film. I know Luigi DeLuca and the Anglia - his older brother Serge was an excellent mechanic and worked on my own race car for the short time I ran it (without distinction I might add - it was the old Tony Parkinson Torana which went from running at the front of the field to running at the back!). Luigi did exceptionally well on a limited budget. It was a bit of an "odd" setup, but had a lot of horsepower and he always drove it well. The Monterosso Escort was also very quick and well driven, but it also had a lot of money spent on it (K&A Engineering did a lot of work on it from memory). I recall Mick was given a test by Brock after his Holden split and he did a pretty respectable time.

Mick Monterosso actually co-holds the AIR 'short' circuit outright lap record with a 43.9 lap (with the Formula 2 of Mark Trengove). Not in his escort......but in the Veskanda sports car.

That got a bit spicy 😲 I think the little red 13B PP needed to keep a foot wider comming onto the bank. He had all the momentum but decided to squeeze the Escort. Escort was hugging the inside as close as humanly possible.

That 13B Anglia of Deluca's flew down the 900m straight. Monterosso....Mick and his brother Cos were always giving the V8 guys hell at the Australian Grand Prix meetings in Adelaide driving their Escorts. Being from Adelaide both had a lot of crowd support in the AGP Sports Sedan races. As to the incident that ended their race here.....Deluca on the outside didn't give Monterosso enough room. He thought he was past but misjudged it.
