They where hilarious. But the bias in that test was unbelievable. I remember listening to them on the radio throughout the mid to late 80s in Australia. I always laughed when they called a game on 2gb AM radio .

Zorba, a goal kicking second rower in his day, played 73 first grade games for Manly (and 11 for Parramatta). One of Zorba's 73 games in the Maroon and White was the 1973 Grand Final win over Cronulla.

A lot of people were surprised that Meninga even got on that tour. He really hadn't done enough in the Australian season to warrant his selection. I think he got picked because he was such a huge draw card in England - the English crowds had never seen some one as big and as fast and as strong as Mal.

Not one Bradford Northern player made the squad, with the best pack in the league. Hill, Skerrett, Hobbs and Fairbank. Marchant an average centre at best, playing on the wing...Phil Ford might have been a better option, or Lydon on the wing and Hampson at fullback

I went to this Aus were streets ahead although GB gave it a go they just accelerated away in the 2nd half think it was 38-16 ? The second test was just an embarrassment 34-4 at Elland Road Leeds. Ashes won without a fight ! But the 3rd Test at Wigan was a proper hard Test match the best I’d seen in years from beginning to end !
