This is insane! Those tracks are soooo much rougher than todays tracks. And look how narrow many of the sections or most of the track. And most were still not wearing full face helmets.

If Ron Lechien had used the same line Glover used even after being passed repeatedly, there would be comments about him being stoned. Great track, better than Anaheim.

I'm exhausted just from watching this race. That track was absolutely brutal. Gary Bailey must've secretly hated the riders. 🤣 It's amazing how flimsy those old bikes were. You could practically see the frames flexing from the pounding these guys put them through. These days, you don't see riders fight for their positions nearly as much as these guys. Bailey straight-up parked Ward.

All hail The Nashville Network (TNN) for letting me watch Ricky Johnson and my man Jeff Ward kick ass on the dirt back in the 80's and 90's! ;} (*I have no idea how we got TNN where I lived in Pioneer, CA... the cable company wouldn't even let us have MTV! :D ) Edit: I don't ever recall hearing about David Bailey back in the 80's and 90's (I was young, forgive me), but after watching some classic supercross/motocross videos tonight Bailey is a bad dude... imo Bailey had more skill than both Johnson and Ward, dude was smooth but fast (which is why I liked Ward). Johnson was skilled and had fire, but imo a bit of an asshole, kinda like the Earnhardt of moto/supercross.

Why is it that in 13 years I can't find the Ricky Ryan win in 1987? 🤔😳

Hey, I was just wondering if you have the 1987 Daytona Supercross race that Rick Ryan won. That would be awesome if you could post that race.

It'd be nice for Rick ryan but that race was mud-bog.

I’d love to see a video of that race as well, I was there in person watching that one. Unforgettable!

@@robertrishel3685 . I remember watching that race. Hell of a main event. I wish either Keith bowen or Larry brooks or tyson vohland or ERIC kehoe or micky diamond would of won. O well. All good. Still a great race

I would give anything to go back for a weekend in the 80s. So I can buy a brand new Honda 250R three-wheeler.

When i went to my first motocross race i was new so i was watching the start line what the heck are these guys doing i laughed a bunch of landscape contractors are u serious but after a few races i started doing a little myself i just do behind the gate....at my track some guys would gi pack 50 feet out in the pros u just are allowed to fix dirt behind the gate thats all i ever did....i would get over tje gate first thats the important of tje start...over the gate first such a big advantage to start with

Rick Johnson interviews go like this "everybody is bad at racing but me and I'm the best, and if I don't win it's because of idiots on the track." great rider, sucky mouth.
@SuedeStonn2 жыл бұрын
LMAO, Johnson always had a slick way of sounding like an asshole, probably subconsciously (I was young) why I didn't like him and rooted for "The Flying Freckle" Ward. ;}

Track was straight up demonic. It nearly bit every rider at some point in the race I’m sure. Poor Glover. Larry M. And The hurricane ragged on him a little but he ended up on the podium. At least my third time watching this race. I simply do not believe modern Daytona SX was anything near this rough. It was safer and just more fun watch!
@jerrymarshall20956 жыл бұрын
Chet Dubois i agree ,the tracks now are,in my opionion to dangerous,it seems like the old tracks were set up so riders couldnt get in a good rhythm.maybe the way they spaced the whoops and jumps out.i cringe watching it these days the riders are in danger of landing on each other,if one misses a gear or doesnt get drive hes in danger of getting landed on. I know the riders are faster now and would blitz thru some of this stuff in 86 and prob make triples out of the jumps.ha ha
