1986 Ford Bronco EEC Problem

They are two different computers one is F2TF-AEA and the other is F2TF-AHA. They aren’t the same and are programmed differently.

You don’t need the eec hooked up to have spark. Your timing will just be locked at base timing

Right, but it wasn't turning on the fuel pump relay. Forgot to connect a ground at the firewall. Suddenly everything was good.

That cap on the oil fill port; what did you do to delete the PCV? On the rig I just bought the dude left the PCV hose just trailing off to nothing. Idles like absolute dog shit and surges/bogs at idle. Did you do anything else to yours when you put that cap on?

I would make sure your pcv valve is okay. Next, check the EGR valve. Those can get hung up at idle. What happens is they stick open a little and exhaust is going into your intake causing the lousy idle. Our '93 F150 did the same thing you described.

PCV hose is supposed to go back to the intake. The valve cover to air cleaner hose was eliminated. Capped the hole for that in the K&N intake. I put the valve covers from the original engine onto the replacement. That's just an old-school valve cover breather in the one valve cover.

U got the wrong computer 86 had its own kinda fule injection strategy forget it's name I got a 86 though anyhow u brought a computer for speed density strategy 86 wasn't even a pcm if u take the cover off it's just security in there it don't know or remember anything doesn't even look at the o2 sencer lol it operates solely off vacuumed readings basically I'd solder in a jumper or whatever u gotta do to fix the ariganale my 86 larit 4x4 still running on origanle one never had a problem but had idle issues for first 3yrs I had it finale when I swapt motors I found it was just bad egr tube lol so keep that in mind if u ever start having idle problems👍

I have a 91 f250 7.5 rough idle and stalls under any load any help?

What color EEC chip does that have? It has to match The Wire. Honest Plug

Try replacing the fuel pump relay switch it's on the driver side fender well it looks exactly like that relay switch

Problem ended up being a disconnected ground wire on the firewall.

I would just live with the e40d codes or repair/replace the 86 computer.

Problem was solved. Found the computer ground to firewall disconnected. Runs on any ECU now.

I know I'm late to the party here but if im not mistaken the engine control module at 0:52 is supposed to be bolted to something like the fender to ground it...

@@andrewmills3845 The part you speak of is actually an ignition (spark) module. It does not require a ground through the case. Wiring diagrams for it are easy to find on the Ford discussion forums.

My bronco is getting no fuel it’s an 86 xlt v8 and when I put the key in the ignition no fuel pump

Start by checking the voltage at fuel pump connector. Check fuel pump relay next to EEC. The EEC would be the last thing to replace.

@@exaviermcnair7252 In the '85 and '86 it's under the dash. '87 and newer it would be under the hood, driver side firewall.

On that rig, I'd rip all that BS out of there and replace the entire powertrain with a conventional set up.
