The 86 season had 7 different engines in GTP, and GTPL also had at least 4 that i can remember. There will never be a series like this. It was GTP that started my love of sportscar racing

The first big time road race I ever went to was the IMSA GTP series at Del Mar in 88. Really was so great back then. Loved the variety of the cars and the teamwork of the drivers and crews. Great times!

Thank you so much for uploading all these videos. But without pulling your leg, don't forget to go and sleap from time to time. LOL. Dany Pop from Brussels (Belgium). My first race GP Formula 1 1962 in East London (South Africa). My first race in Europe 1970 Spa-Francorchamps with Porsche 917 & Ferrari 512 S. I saw when Oliver and Rodriguez touch. Those were the days my friend.

This was the problem with auto racing from back in the day. So many cars break down. Even in F1 it wasnt that uncommon for over half the starting field to not finish the race.
