Miss those games, it was a different time for sure. No woke, the game was far more intense and less PI, no defenseless receiver and Summeral/Madden covered the great games. I loved how Madden used to always figure out a way to talk about Jumbo Elliott. Dexter Manley really screwed up his life... What a waste.

One of my great regrets of life: never seeing a game in-person at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium during the 1980's heyday of the Redskins. Of course, I was a kid, but those great teams of 1982-1991 were as much a part of my childhood as anything else. I lived for Sunday and watching the Skins on WDBJ-7 out of Roanoke, VA.

NFC East Games were the most important: From 86,87,90,91,92,93,95, the winner of the rivalries won the Superbowl. 12-4 wasn't good enough to win this division in 86! Cowboys, PHI, NYG, WAS, 4 teams that all hate eachother, The Eagles were the only non SB champ but they were always a tough game, and almost always ended up being one of the 2-3 losses on the 13-3 Division champ 1 seed.

I cant imagine the hate Redskins team and nation must have felt for NYG. 86 Redskins were 12-4; and had to take the Wildcard because Giants swept them at 14-2. Giants are responsible for 1/2 their losses. The Skins won 2 playoff games to make it to NFC Championship...AT The Giants. A 3pete of suffering. WORSE: 85 Their star QB career ended at Lawrence Taylor's hands.

To the contrary Walter White. The injury to Theismann was a blessing in disguise, as his QB skills had declined markedly by 1985. It provided him with a graceful exit and prevented Gibbs with the tough decision of having to bench him later that year for Schroeder. Theismann's last good year was '84. Without his injury they probably never would have signed Doug Williams as a backup in '86, which led to the Schroder/Williams QB by committee in '87. Suffice it to say that without Theismann's MNF injury in '85, the Redskins would not have won the Super Bowl two years later.

This was THE game that cemented Giants’ status as the top team in the NFL that year. They could NEVER win at RFK in the past. Statement game.

He was in the pro bowl in 1986 . This was probably the only worse game he played in his career. 6int in one game. He just had issues with Giants

He started for the NFC in the pro bowl if I'm not mistaken. Schroeder was a good quarterback. He was betrayed a few times by dropsies by our receivers in several games that 1986 season. If you remember the NFC title game there was a sure td the Clark dropped . Schroeder through it up so Clark could run under it and he just flat out dropped it. That td I think would have changed the momentum of the game. Going into that game they were coming off a stunner against the Bears and Jay was feeling good.

Take Lawrence Taylor out of the equation and the Redskins go 14-2 and win the Super Bowl not the Giants in 1986

John Liberty Honestly, defender never had such impact on the game as LT did, it’s impossible in the NFL to speak out defender through the whole game, but Pat and John mentioned Lawrence every Redskins offensive play

Taylor didn't int Schoeder six times. This game I think is where teammates may have lost a bit of faith in Jay. Although he rebounded a bit and made it to the NFC title game , the Giants were in Schoeders head.
