James Smith i thought would of been a solid challenge for Tyson, a big guy with good reach that could hit hard and could take tremendous amounts of punishment. Similar to Donovan Ruddock who could match Tyson punch for punch, unfortunately that didn't happen, the match itself was one sided, other then throwing an occasional punch and locking up Tyson every 30 seconds, Smith did virtually nothing in this match in terms of offense. I'm sure many Tyson fans were expecting more from someone who goes by the name "bonecrusher" to offer a more competitive challenge. As said before Smith should of done what Donovan Ruddock did, and thats going straight at Tyson head on, because he had the power, strength and size to at least try this tactic, he should of punched hard and punched often to keep pressure on Tyson, that never happened. All Smith proved in this fight was how uninterested he was in giving what many fans were expecting, and that was an epic fight that pushed both fighters to their limits.

@munroechainsawcarving8518 ай бұрын
Two funny things about your comment. First, you say something disparaging about Mike Tysons ability, then follow it by saying "much respect to both of them". But also, you say that, not taking in consideration that Tyson made a career our of closing the distance on his opponents. So to say Tyson never could close the distance, is like saying Jordan never could score much, or Tiger never could drive off the tee very far... its either very sarcastic or very inaccurate lol
@fadethetrade12 жыл бұрын
After 1988,he simply stopped practicing the techniques to keep the head and body moving for more then 1 or 2 rounds as he poorly demonstrated with douglas,holy and lewis. He had a few rounds of movement in those fights and then he got stationary.His stamina suffered immensly after spinks. another factor in his 50% decline of the techniques.If you lose that great stamina he developed so many years,you cant implement the constant head movements and the opponents starts to hit you more.No good.

@mc3newsmcocconcierge5045 жыл бұрын
Bryan-Michael Dungee the way to beat Tyson is to out box him. You can’t win if you aren’t swinging. All these guys just wanted a pay check and to maybe keep their head attached, straight pansies. Imagine Tyson walking into every fight just grabbing every dude when they approached.

I think Tyson wanted to box and play around with Smith. Even in round 12 they were making faces at each other. Tyson could have taken opportunities in the earlier rounds by working Smith's body. It could have been over a lot sooner. Tyson is my favorite boxer.

Bravo Bone Crusher! You did not let Iron Mike Tyson's make you an easy target at the peak of Tyson's career when everybody got used to Tyson's opponent to be on the canvass in a few rounds. Even the commentator in this video spoke one sidedly and looked totally disappointed and did not mention at all whenever Bone Crusher boxed Tyson so many times in varius rounds. How many other heavy weights went 12 rounds with Tyson without a knock down (other than Tyson's losses in his later career)?

Bravo Bone Holder Smith! One of the worst holding fights I've ever seen! It wasn't clenching it was holding! Not to mention this was a championship fight. Only thing you had to do is listen to the fans that were there booing him.
@jamesgross59546 жыл бұрын
Kamran Jafri you see this makes my ppl ount perfectly clear who ? You ask ? ZERO! Why zero!? Because the ones he LL ist to later in his career we're the kisses w me he would have taken early in his career that his handlers did a spectacular job if avoiding on purpose! At least one person on this planet would need t dispute that s fact and he can add me as a fan now because he is now a1st humblehumsn being pwhich no one thought that the word humble would be used for that describe him 2nd thankful he got to eventually fight some of the true heavy weight champs and #1contenders of all time in the ring which never would have happened in his used because all it takes in your youth in your Prime is to lose to one of those and then you know you're lit left without a legacy and never heard of which would have happened to Mike Tyson had he fought any of the true contenders back then but he wasn't he was King of the heavyweight Brawlers guys didn't deserve to be in a freaking top range and the one person that can attest it is and I don't think he has any problems admitting this and that's why I have become a fan of his now and is latter part of his life and that is Mike Tyson himself and I think for that it does make him wear the greater legacy's in boxing you know he had a great run but you know the handlers did an excellent job of avoiding true heavy weights and giving him his legacy that was probably undeserving at the time but I think the way he handles it in his time now with the grades because he does realize you got lucky and that's all that really matters when it was considered Mike Tyson's

There is something very wrong with this fight conspiracy alert. Hear me out and maybe I'm missing the obvious. I watch a lot of fights while I run on my iPad for 30-40 minutes on the treadmill . Fights are 3 minute rounds so to be safe and to get my full work out in i usually watch 10 rounds and factor in a minute or in this case with some editing 30 seconds between rounds and after 10 rounds I should atleast be at the 35 minute mark of my run or further. We'll after 10 rounds of this fight and breaks in between ... I looked down at my clock and I was at less than 30 minutes total !!. For shits I went back and timed round 4 and it was only 1 minute 50 seconds long , Round 7 was only 2:18 .. I didn't time them all but you get the point and please check for yourself. I don't see any edits during the actual fight only during breaks. Now I ask the question why??? You hear the commentator saying there were many bets on how quickly this fight would be stopped by Tyson. Now the conspiracy... were the Vegas odds makers skimming time off the rounds to push this fight to the distance ? I bet a lot of people lost alot of money that night. Anyone out there please set me straight or let me know if I'm on to something?.... Also who the hell cares Iron Mike is a legend !

I soitted lewis in vagas and he was abiut tye same size and height. Then I meet mike. He was nothing what you would expect from a heavy. Im about 5'10 barefooted and we were eye to eye. it makes out appreciate how magnifucant mike was. Short and small yet devasting

Mike Tyson was a short 20 yr old up against a 6’4 dog with a hellvua reach. You have not competed or held any belts that would make anyone respect your observation. Tyson preformed well for a 20 yr old pro. Granted he was seasoned by then but cmon mr. Analyst
