If Ali had been fighting Tyson, that's exactly how he'd have fought, by holding him incessantly, and hoping to find a way to knock him out. While Smith fought a negative fight at the time the fight happened I saw it as showing Tyson was not invincible and how a more talented fighter than Bonecrusher could have defeated Tyson.

Just met smith in person! Great man. Had no idea he had fought tyson.
Referee worked hard in this one. Smith did well to go the distance with Prime Tyson, a guy clearly several levels above him. Hung on or it was an early knock out for Tyson. People criticising Smith. Anyone to face Tyson at this time is very brave.

Mike nearly always rushed to see if his opponent was OK after fight stopped. When he'd layer a man out you could see the concern on Miles face until they said they were OK. Two funny things about your comment. First, you say something disparaging about Mike Tysons ability, then follow it by saying "much respect to both of them". But also, you say that, not taking in consideration that Tyson made a career our of closing the distance on his opponents. So to say Tyson never could close the distance, is like saying Jordan never could score much, or Tiger never could drive off the tee very far... its either very sarcastic or very inaccurate lol

lets beone Lol at the age of 24 mike was still in his prime and got his ass beat by Douglas
@jaaayj54748 жыл бұрын
***** Lol so lack of sleep caused him to lose the fight? Quit with the excuses, Many many many fighters before Mike led a party life style and many of them we're alot wilder than Tyson but they still managed to show how great they was, Tyson at 24 was well within his peak there aren't any excuses for the loss. all his weakness's got exposed and Douglas gave the likes of Holyfield, Lewis, Williams, and Mcbirde the bull print in how to beat Tyson, Push him back ( he can't fight on the back foot ) use to jab effectively, Tyson got his head jabbed off against Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, why? Because near enough all his head movement was gone 3 years into his career, Show you're not afraid of him, once he couldn't get inside your head half the battle was lost for Tyson he lacked heart, soon as his wild hooks weren't knocking people over he had no idea what to do, in boxing you have to adapt Tyson wasn't able to do that. Tyson looked good against bum's , Tyson couldn't box, he never was able to beat anyone world class
@jaaayj54748 жыл бұрын
***** Ha Ha Ha, It's nothing like letting Mayweather fight Tyson! its the fact Tyson couldn't box and always struggled against good boxers!
@jaaayj54748 жыл бұрын
***** For one Mike hardly ever fought anyone that was the same height as him what with him being 5'10- 5'11 he was a small heavyweight in size, If mike fought any good boxer let alone world class boxer he struggled, He never beat anyone that truly stood up too him, He ducked so many of the better heavyweights of his era, Sure he looked good beating total bum's but the true test to become a great is beating fellow greats, Something he wasn't able to do.
@letsbeone8 жыл бұрын
He was a extremely gifted fighter with extraordinary power and speed in both hands. He had to have those tools because he was a very undersized heavyweight not because of his weight but because of his short stature. Height and reach are very important physical attributes to have as a boxer but of course you have to know how to use them to your advantage. My feeling on Mike Tyson is that he shouldn't have boxed passed the age of 30 because of his short stature. He had to rely on his speed which also helped generate his power to even have a chance of defeating the bigger taller prototypical heavyweights. Once those tools started to deteriorate with age he basically had little chance of beating guys that had the height reach and size advantage on him. One thing about Mike Tyson is that he is literally a boxing encyclopedia. He knows all about the boxers from back in the day and has probably watch as much film on the old guys as anyone who is alive today.

James Smith i thought would of been a solid challenge for Tyson, a big guy with good reach that could hit hard and could take tremendous amounts of punishment. Similar to Donovan Ruddock who could match Tyson punch for punch, unfortunately that didn't happen, the match itself was one sided, other then throwing an occasional punch and locking up Tyson every 30 seconds, Smith did virtually nothing in this match in terms of offense. I'm sure many Tyson fans were expecting more from someone who goes by the name "bonecrusher" to offer a more competitive challenge. As said before Smith should of done what Donovan Ruddock did, and thats going straight at Tyson head on, because he had the power, strength and size to at least try this tactic, he should of punched hard and punched often to keep pressure on Tyson, that never happened. All Smith proved in this fight was how uninterested he was in giving what many fans were expecting, and that was an epic fight that pushed both fighters to their limits.

This is the prophecy about the second coming of Jesus Zechariah 13:7 “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. The Shepherd here is Jesus. John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. This is the fulfillment of the prophecy. Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: “’I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ This happened near 30 AD. Hosea 6:1-2 Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence. In prophecies 1day is equal to 1000 years. Which means after two thousand years Jesus will return again. And on the third day which is the 3rd millennium, we will live in his sight. We all know we cannot see God's face and live on Earth. So it's the second coming of Jesus. Luke 21:11 ► There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. Matthew 24:6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. We are the witnesses of all these things. From the death of Jesus to 2030 there are 2000 years. Jesus is coming soon. Let's all repent and turn from our old ways and turn to the Lord. Praise the Lord. Peace and Love to you all Easter is pagan, the resurrection day of the Lord is correct and please stop taking the Lord's name in vain like saying omg or using it with a bad word or taking it in anyway that is in vain. Even the devil trembles in his name and we shouldn't use the powerful name like that. For the people who says Jesus is not God here's a verse. Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. God bless you all. Please spread this message to the ends of the world. 😊😊

Bravo Bone Crusher! You did not let Iron Mike Tyson's make you an easy target at the peak of Tyson's career when everybody got used to Tyson's opponent to be on the canvass in a few rounds. Even the commentator in this video spoke one sidedly and looked totally disappointed and did not mention at all whenever Bone Crusher boxed Tyson so many times in varius rounds. How many other heavy weights went 12 rounds with Tyson without a knock down (other than Tyson's losses in his later career)?

Bravo Bone Holder Smith! One of the worst holding fights I've ever seen! It wasn't clenching it was holding! Not to mention this was a championship fight. Only thing you had to do is listen to the fans that were there booing him.
@jamesgross59545 жыл бұрын
Kamran Jafri you see this makes my ppl ount perfectly clear who ? You ask ? ZERO! Why zero!? Because the ones he LL ist to later in his career we're the kisses w me he would have taken early in his career that his handlers did a spectacular job if avoiding on purpose! At least one person on this planet would need t dispute that s fact and he can add me as a fan now because he is now a1st humblehumsn being pwhich no one thought that the word humble would be used for that describe him 2nd thankful he got to eventually fight some of the true heavy weight champs and #1contenders of all time in the ring which never would have happened in his used because all it takes in your youth in your Prime is to lose to one of those and then you know you're lit left without a legacy and never heard of which would have happened to Mike Tyson had he fought any of the true contenders back then but he wasn't he was King of the heavyweight Brawlers guys didn't deserve to be in a freaking top range and the one person that can attest it is and I don't think he has any problems admitting this and that's why I have become a fan of his now and is latter part of his life and that is Mike Tyson himself and I think for that it does make him wear the greater legacy's in boxing you know he had a great run but you know the handlers did an excellent job of avoiding true heavy weights and giving him his legacy that was probably undeserving at the time but I think the way he handles it in his time now with the grades because he does realize you got lucky and that's all that really matters when it was considered Mike Tyson's

I noticed nobody ever gave comment about age difference between James 33 and Tyson 20. But if it is vise versa, Tyson's fans will give stupid excuses that Tyson is not in his prime to fight. Is James not in his prime to fight Mike Tyson? Yes, he is. Tyson won the fight though but not by knock out. James Smith is a good fighter by making efforts to avoid upper cut and frustrated Tyson. I am very sure Douglas, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis watched this match prior to fight Tyson and learn from Smith's lack of confidence. Because this match excessively depicts Tyson's weaknesses. Mike Tyson found it uneasy to knock Smith out at early rounds. Despite the wound, James still made it till end of the last round.

Main difficulty for Tyson was to beat well composed boxer with decent defense and size! He had to overcome reach disadvantages in almost all of his heavyweight fights - thus being forced to fight on the inside! And that's what's cause the trouble - if he hadn't been as good as he was he'd prolly neva won any of those fights! And a lot of those games was picking the right opponents and making the most out of his early success! Hello - you know who ;)!
@deltacos31875 жыл бұрын
Anton Quirgst Mike isn’t a natural heavyweight. He had to eat several meals just to make the limit. There’s no reason he should’ve fought guys the size of Holyfield, Razor, Bruno, Lennix, etc. He wanted to be the baddest man on the planet, but he couldn’t fight heavyweights when he came back from prison. He added weight to the stocky build, but he had became a flat footed brawler.

After 1988,he simply stopped practicing the techniques to keep the head and body moving for more then 1 or 2 rounds as he poorly demonstrated with douglas,holy and lewis. He had a few rounds of movement in those fights and then he got stationary.His stamina suffered immensly after spinks. another factor in his 50% decline of the techniques.If you lose that great stamina he developed so many years,you cant implement the constant head movements and the opponents starts to hit you more.No good.

He just cannot keep up that movement as he got older... once he hit his early 20s all them years of bopping up and down side to side at his weight was too much... my uncle who has always loved boxing since the 1930s studied tyson , he loved him but saw the flaws.. he told me there was noway any man at that weight would be able to keep that style of fighting through out his career....
