She was a remarkable woman and she helped so many others through the establishment of her “Betty Ford Center”. Her husband was so supportive too.

Betty & Gerald seemed like genuinely good people who raised a great family. Mrs. Ford created a seismic change in the way people who suffer(ed) alcohol and drug use problems are viewed and treated.

This is one of Barbara Walters's better pieces. As one in recovery, thank you Mrs. Ford. It takes a lot of courage and love for a family to deal with addiction honestly and constructively.

Gerald Ford was too good of a man to be a politician.

In my experience, nobody can stop the addiction but the addict themselves, and they have to be ready. Alcoholism runs on my mom's side of the family. I truly believe that I was born an addict/ Alcoholic all I had to do was wake it up, and that was easy for me.

Gerald Ford was the President Of The United States, the most powerful man in the world, in the most stressful position in the world during times of extreme chaos across the globe (Watergate, Vietnam, and all the other troubles humanity faced in the mid 70s). I'm sure that was nothing compared to telling Betty she had a problem. RIP Mr President and Mrs First Lady
