Good Job Steve for pointing out the differences between the Gran National and the GNX. Every other GN I’ve seen being sold by these collector car dealerships hasn’t really pointed out the big difference between the two.
@jdgreen2142 жыл бұрын
He left off the most important difference though. The rear suspension that the gnx had to help counter wheel hop and put all the horsepower to the ground.

Yup, the VIN gets the win: 1G4 for US made Buick, GJ11 for Regal two door coupe, 7 for 3.8L SFI turbo V6, 7 is a check digit, H for the 1987 model year, P for Pontiac, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Pontiac, MI plant also assembled the Fiero and was the Pontiac division "home plant". It closed in 1988 and made the last run of G bodies. Other codes are AR9 reclining front bucket seats, PON for Pontiac, MI assembly, C60 for AC, LC2 for 3.8L turbo SFI V6, MW9 for THM200-4R four speed automatic with overdrive, A90 for power trunk, D35 for sport mirrors, NA5 for standard Federal emissions, VK3 for front plate bracket, A31 for power windows, AU3 for power locks, C49 for rear window defogger, WA0848 (or code 19U) for Black exterior paint, 82C for Medium Dark Gray interior trim, WE2 for Grand National as noted, G80 for limited slip differential, J47 in the upper right corner is the general code for a Buick Regal two door, among other codes. These were silent rockets and left many a V8 looking at the back of it as it whooshed by you with little effort. Not only that, you got fuel injection and if you drove it reasonably, you got excellent fuel mileage. The chassis was a bit dated by 1987, but it was still stylish, roomy and comfortable.

The 1980s fastest car that's not a V8. Still looks mean, today. Bit hard to find or to protect from thefts.
@jdgreen2142 жыл бұрын
I drive mine and then lock it up in storage. I also have a collar lock that has a half moon shaped key that probably needs a metal grinder to remove it. If someone wants any car bad enough I guess they will find a way to steal it.

Not hard to find but expensive. I found mine in 2019 and had a full mechanical restoration that coat about 20k. Prices keep rising.

I love Steve Magnante he is very knowledgeable, I don't know if he owns this high-octane Classics car dealer or if he's just as a paid spokesperson. I sure would love to have some of what high-octane Classics is smoking... $100,000 for a Grand National c'mon. I saw on their website they sold a undocumented 1970 Chevelle SS 454 for $90,000. Undocumented doesn't mean we haven't verified if it's a real Chevelle SS 454... undocumented means it's never going to be a real 70 Chevelle SS 454 There is an ass for every seat.

His prices are kind of car fetched for some of his non matching numbers cars. I mean over 80 grand for a grandnational . wow that's way way out there

Modifying a Grand National ruins it's value. They are not drag race cars just rubber framed car... why put fake balls into a fake race car is beyond me...

They run 10s very easily with basic mods. 9s with a handful more. And a nicely modified one just brought over 90K on BaT. Put the drink down and go to bed.

@@I-Teee So what? My Z1000 does that stock. You can make anything go fast even riding mowers. Most cars would go faster if the driver lost 30 pounds of gut never mind the top fuel bragging.
