This is an all original 1987 Chrysler Pitt Ave. It was a garage find and even had the original tires on it until a few months ago.

My Dad bought my Mother a 1989 Fifth Avenue (last year for this body style) in Mink Brown, matching leather interior and Vinyl Top. My Mother still owns the car, 41,000 original miles, and in perfect condition. Not a mark, ding, dent, scratch, inside or out. The Dealer, Powell Chrysler, Escondido, California put Vogue Wide Whitewall patterned tires with a gold band and real Wire Wheels on the car before delivery. It has the same tires and wheels as we speak.

What a gorgeous car! My father had a friend who had one of these. My first job out of college in the 80's was on Wall Street in NYC. I remember walking from the WTC to my firm passing by all the major banks and brokerage houses. In the afternoons, waiting outside of them would be a whole bunch of Lincoln Town Cars, Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams (some of them limousines) and these Chrysler Fifth Avenues waiting to pick up the top exexutives. I always wanted one of these cars but sadly, by the time I was old enough and was making enough money to afford one, the didn't make any of them anymore. Well, I could have bought a Lincoln Town Car as they stopped production in 2011. But they were no longer available with cloth seats and by that time, they were mostly only used by livery companies so the awe and prestige had more or less vanished.

Wow some lucky human owns this beauty. I love and appreciate cars from the 80s and 90s..even older. I'm almost 58 and I'd drive this beauty everyday and treat her like gold. These were made to last, unlike the garbage they make now. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry LE in really nice shape..light blue with dark blue cloth interior. 212K miles on it. People always compliment me on it..especially younger people. Runs like a charm. I've driven it since 2002. I'll drive it until I find something equally as reliable.

@veronicahawthorne the manufacture of reliable cars for the people ceased in the early 1990’s , the days before all these service lights and cars going into “limp mode” unless you drove it straight to the stealership - I’ve been lucky enough to own several Toyota corolla’s and camry’s and they have all been brilliant and 100% reliable - it’s normally rust around the suspension mountings that kills em - my late father who was a mechanic used to say you can drive a Japanese car to the scrapyard , you have to push all the others! - 😊

I have always loved how Chrysler stepped up and hit one out of the park by taking a current platform and car, then executing a “Seville” clone almost perfectly, when clearly, there was still demand for the originally Seville size and shape. Great move by Chrysler.

Fun fact- if you stripped the cop car sway bars, steering box (& pump w/cooler), the cradle solid mounts,4-bbl set up, popped in the Walker 40430 Y-pipe and scrapped the lean-burn...these cars still rode great but handled better, more power, better fuel economy, and not worries about when the lean burn would die unannounced

We had one of these beautiful black with red stripes and maroon " corinthian" leather, not sure what kind that is but it was nice. The paint on that car was as awesome as this one. I'd use Wesley's mirror finish polish on it and it was so nice. I was about 16 when we had it. I'd wax it atleast once a week. We had that car for a few years and I remember it being a good car. I also remember it came with those slick when wet Goodyear Arrivas. I was admittedly going too fast just after it started raining, took a corner too fast and done a complete 360 in the middle of road. Somehow I managed not to hit anything or anyone.
@DavidFlorida6342 ай бұрын
That’s great. And yes! This car actually had the original Goodyear Arrivas on it until three months ago.. they had a lighter white sidewall which I kind of regret not replacing. It does still have the original spare in the trunk.
@michaelhungate75062 ай бұрын
@DavidFlorida634 yeah the white sidewalls complimented the styling of the car. The basic car dates back to mid 70s, I think. I also had a 79 Plymouth Volare, straight six, that's the same basic car, I think 🤔? I had that for about a year in the early 90s.

Wow. I drove one back in the day and it was a good car. It's funny because it was neither my style the for older cars RWD cars and not new with FWD. Now that I'm older I really appreciate it more and time has been kind to the overall package (especially compared to some of the other "downsized" luxury cars in that transition period).

My god! Velour! This is what a reasonably sized land yacht should be.
@retroguy94943 ай бұрын
Yea I love the velour too! So many luxury survivor cars from the 70's and 80's have leather which I don't like. As for being a 'land yacht' of the 'big three' auto makers top luxury models back then which were the Lincoln Town Car, the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and the Chrysler Fifth Avenue, the Fifth Avenue was actually the smallest.
@stephendavidbailey27433 ай бұрын

In laws had one. White over navy blue leather. This is a beautiful example of what was a very mediocre car in its day. A full-size GM product like an Olds 88 Royale Brougham or Buick LeSabre Limited was much nicer driving, roomier and comparable in price. The bones of the 5th Ave dated back to the Volare, which was a heavily updated Valiant. Plush yes, otherwise, better options abounded.
@DavidFlorida6343 ай бұрын
I agree with you as far as the Oldsmobile, Buick , and Pontiac of the early 80s. But by the time this car was built (87) the Oldsmobile 88 and 98 and other GM full-size cars were on a Front Wheel drive V6 platform. Chevrolet held out with the impala and Caprice, but the other GM cars did not ride near as nice as this one. In my opinion.
