The Aggies set a Cotton Bowl record with 5 interception passes -- all in the second half. Two were returned for touchdowns (by Michael Kee and Chris Spielman). Kee's interception return for a TD was a double record breaker. His interception was the fifth in the game and set a Cotton Bowl record for longest INT return for a touchdown.
This was also the first appearance for the Big Ten in the Cotton Bowl.

This is my first season watching college football. The loss to TTUN was really hard. I always thought Matt Frantz was going to make that field goal. It was nice to see the Buckeyes end the season on a high note beating a really good Texas A&M team. They won the SWC that year, which was a strong conference in the 80's. GO BUCKS!

Wonder why Kevin Murray never had an NFL career? Good thing for A&M he decided to skip his senior year and declare for the draft. The next year the Aggies throttled Notre Dame and Tim Brown 35-10.

Back or neck injury I believe. 9'ers drafted him, Walsh saw him as a viable, young 3rd QB behind Montana and the Mormon. But his injuries got the best of him, so he went out, got married, and made an even better version of himself called Kyler. Top High School QB recruit out of that spoiled, rich juggernaut known as Allen, Tx. Oh yeah, and incase you didn't know, Kyler, like his father before him are now mine.. er, I mean chose Texas A&M.

There was a witch hunt underway in Columbus in when Coach Bruce lost to underdogs like Wisconsin several times earning him the nickname “Old 9-3 Earle.” Six Bruce-coached teams had 9-3 records and the powers that be wanted more firepower. He did having a winning record against the rival the UM Wolverines. He knew how to beat Michigan. Where did the suit and fedora come from? Under the morally bankrupt president Ed Jennings a series of trumped up charges were brought against Coach Bruce…among them was being criticized for dressing unprofessionally for games. So he decided to stick one in the rotten OSU administration’s ear for this game and his last game as coach against UM…he had been fired the week before 11-16-87. He wore the suit and fedora in Ann Arbor and pulled off the big upset. The Buckeye players wore headbands with the word “EARLE” scrawled in Sharpie pen. They knew their coach had been screwed!
