You can see David in the Interview not sure what he was going to say about his old Band mates he fired and had some Doubts of 1987 Album still which sold 10 million copies over the years and most Successful Whitesnake Album Every song on that Album kicks ass. it took David Years to accept the new Sound of Whitesnake since 1984 album which he hated the U.S. version the Studio had John Sykes record the newer Guitar Sounds and added to the tracks already recorded Which was old Deep Purple Slower Pace i'm going to fall asleep Sound Whitesnake 1.0 that David liked and was found of. 1984 U.S version album Whitesnake 2.0 was prelude 87 89 Albums newer Version of Whitesnake that is my Favorite High Energy Kick in the Balls Testosterone Guitar Drum and Bass Sound in your Face Sexy Ballads. First time I heard 1987 Album i was Totally Blown Away with the killer Guitar work I said to myself Who the Fuck is this Guitar Player look on back of the album said John Sykes Wow Who's this guy not knowing at the time that all those guys on the 87 Album got Canned by David so when I was watching all those Whitesnake Videos on MTV I thought tall Blond hair guy was Sykes but instead it was Vandenberg I didn't find out till years after the whole Story that i wont get into Sykes contributed so much to that album to be Shunned and not play those Killer Songs in Concert I would have been a Pissed off M.F !! too

The way he talks about Whitesnakes album being delayed for a year is telling. He says he had a sinus infection but it was not drug related. He says that like he's guilty of drug use. The interviewer didn't ask David about drug use why would he give that information up ? Then goes on to say it took him between 8 & 9 months to get his voice back and had surgery. Him and his wife had drug problems. I can't imagine Whitesnake doing a tour with Motley Crue in 1987 and not being offered drugs.

Nothing official: DC said it was a matter of attitude, with a negative approach of band's members, while JS said that since DC fired everybody in the band it was just a matter of money because Coverdale wanted the financial control of the 1987 album songs. Someone told that JS spent too too much money re-recording guitars in various studios looking for the perfect guitar tone and DC couldnt stand him for that.

Easy to talk great about your former band mates when you’re profiting handsomely from the album that John Sykes had equal writing contributions in, and essentially it was his ideas for the music to appeal to the American audience, which up until that point Whitesnake wasn’t well known at all in America. It was Sykes ideas and writing that helped makes Whitesnake ‘87 what it is.

What variant of an english accent does David Coverdale have?
@zoefoster1873
@zoefoster1873 4 жыл бұрын
He's actually speaking what is called Received Pronunciation, which means a fairly neutral, middle to upper class accent, that actually has no accent and which is redolent of how people on the BBC used to sound some years ago!! His voice originally was far more Yorkshire (which is where he's from) - a very distinct regional accent from the North of England. It's not particularly a rock'n'roll accent, so I suspect that he ironed it out when he joined Deep Purple, in order to sound less of a Northerner. Sorry, it's so difficult to explain the whole minefield which is English/British accents..!!
@CB-xr1eg
@CB-xr1eg 4 жыл бұрын
@@zoefoster1873 He "ironed out" his accent so he would be easier to understand in foreign countries. His Yorkshire twang would have been difficult for people such as Americans. They couldn't understand Cheryl Cole's Geordie which is why she bombed over there. Having said that, The Beatles did ok with their scouse accents, so go figure!
@generalhighground5300
@generalhighground5300 3 жыл бұрын
@@zoefoster1873 You explained it really well, dw. I understood. And I only just realised you replied to something I asked seven months ago. Thanks! I was aware that he was from Yorkshire but because the accent didn't match, I was under the impression maybe he just lived somewhere else long enough to adopt that refined sound. I like the way he talks and his deep voice makes him sound very relaxing - comforting almost. Lmao. Honestly I reckon he would've sounded just as nice with a Yorkshire accent because Joe Elliott from Def Leppard sounds awesome when he talks as well.
@zoefoster1873
@zoefoster1873 3 жыл бұрын
@@generalhighground5300 Explaining accents is difficult isn't it! One big difference between DC and JE is that I can't stand the latter, and I STILL can't understand why Def Leppard are so often described as a Heavy Metal band, when to me at least, they sound like Pop/Rock...just my humble opinion!

Coverdale is the Trump of Rock music demands loyalty and then stabs you in the back. He told Sykes he had no gurantee he would be back so Sykes writes 9 out of 11 songs and Coverdale rewards him by sacking him. After Whitesnake album he rewards Vivian Campbell who toured to support the CD by sacking him. Trump would be so proud of Coverdale 9 line-up changes in WS from 1978 to 1987!

You should read the Bernie Marsden book about how the original line-up was fired: they were told one day all is good, they get called to a meeting the next day to be told by Coverdale "you're out and it's not my fault". Luckily for Bernie he wrote some songs that got re-recorded by the hair-metal version of Whitesnake, and he managed to live off those royalties.

@@marcdavis7583 Coverdale broke up the band in order to cut ties with the management because that was the only way he could get out of it in addition to paying off his contract. Bernie wrote: “The greatest band any guitarist could wish for had ended without a row or whimper, and a song-writing partnership that could have gone on to bigger and better things was terminated because of lousy management.”

I really do believe that David C. thinks he is Robert Plant (Bobby). Bobby hates the comparisons, not to mention David C's f*cking guts. David C thinks he is good enough to work with Jimmy as well. Jimmy feels the same as Bobby. Jimmy and Bobby produced the Coverdale Page album without the 3 of them being in the same room together at the same time as DC was not welcome in the studio.

You can see what happens when David C and Jon L are on the same bill as Ritchie on the stage at Calofornia Jam. It is no different when it comes to Jimmy and Bobby when David C is lurking around in the studio, trying to fuck things up; Ian Gillan and David C do not get along, due to the way David C fucks around with Ritchie's amps/sound/guitar, just to name 3 times. David C hides from Ian because he does not heeding Ian's warnings, one of the reasons Ian screams so much! ON stage, Ian get get away with it, but offstage, maybe not so much as the powers that be will lock you up for that. I know that all too well, yes I do, all too well.....

Plant had nothing to do with the Coverdale/Page album. Page obviously thought highly enough of David to do an album with him and have a mini tour in Japan until Robert like a spurned lover decided to beg Jimmy to come back to him! Get the story straight and stop pulling things out of your arse friend!

Top tip: it would have been a lot easier to read and understand your story if you had used the surnames of those involved and not make up your own nicknames.

@@marcdavis7583 What nicknames? I thought it was quite clear, and so do you==David Coverdale, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page, all of which are BRAND names as in music as a PRODUCT name. Ask Jordan Maxwell. He knows that music is nothing personal, just good business as stated by the powers that be, not Jordan himself. Music to us is an art, but religion,aka, government does not see it that way...

@@rosekittygraykittyjackkitt9676 Firstly, in 50 years, I've never heard Robert Plant be referred to as "Bobby". "Percy" is his nickname, by the way. There are many people called Jimmy, Robert, and David; but Coverdale, Page and Plant are unique. If you re-write your story using the surnames or at least keep the name consistent, it's much more elegant and more easily understood. But what do I know, I only write stuff for a living. ;)

I really do believe David C thinks he is Ian (Gillan). Just ask Ritchie(Blackmore). He will tell you point blank if he thinks you deserve to know.

I like them both, but Coverdale’s baritone voice is superb like he did for the original version of “Don’t Break My Heart Again.”
