If your legs are as long as mine, the stock seats don't go back far enough in your Toyota 4Runner. Here's a video showing how I very easily, quickly, and cheaply modified mine to work better.

Great info! I just did this to my '92. I found I had a 2nd set of dimples at the other end of the rail that had to be drilled out as well. Easy enough. Extra legroom makes all the difference! Thanks!

Sweetness! My 96 passport has the same deal on the seat rails. I'm only 5'10", but these things are crammed up front. It'll give me another inch or so of leg room. Thanks for the free mod.

Long time too late im afraid, but Do you want that extra notch? Take the seat back out, get your drill and slide the seat back until the rear of the upper seat track rail just barely slides over the hole. put the drill in your original hole and use it to chew a little "U" notch in the rear of that top rail... the u notch will slide around the rivet allowing you to slide the seat one more notch.

always consider crash safety with seat adjustment. seat position should be such that panic pressing of foot levers still leaves slight bend in knee. never want legs to lock. if legs lock and there is a crash... all energy is transferred to upper legs and hip... resulting in terrible injury. allow the knee (GODS flex joint) to buffer that crash energy. great vids... keep them coming

I like this, it shows is possible. My buddy my 2000 Troope Limited but he is 6.8"...He was so exicted about me selling it to him. I have been getting road worthy to sell....He jumped in and was going to buy all these new parts and turn it into an Overlander for him to pull behind is rv....I was excited to sell it him, then i thought oh crap. David may be too tall for it...and he is. Looked like he was tried drive a peddal car. We aee looking into moving the seats back and this helps us with one aspect to look at. These are power seats so using stock locations and making metal brackets to bolt the seat back to may be our option.... looking fot other videos out. If any has idea we are all ears

Yeah...I didn't have a 4Runner in high school, but I had an '86 Toyota Pickup single cab(in 1989) and I remember that one especially wasn't roomy at all.

I'm 6'4 and I'm going to try removing my car seat tomorrow. Been having the same problem with my car for 7 years now. I always felt like I'd be more comfortable if the seat could go an inch back more. I can't drive more than like 2 hours without cramping up because of this.

Not sure what you want me to do. Have you looked to see if the lever and cable is all hooked up or broken? Have you tried looking to see if a Penny is jamming up the tracks? Have you tried spraying some lubricant on the tracks to free things up?
