Nice, I was actually at this game in person at age 18 because I used to live in Nassau, Bahamas. I was at school in Ottawa, Canada and on my way home for Christmas break my family met me in Miami where we went to this game. Thanks for posting. Wow 32 years already.

Man, watching this game, I didn't realize before what a good back Troy Strafford was. If he had been featured in a run-oriented offense, I think he really could've racked up some yardage.

@epp1013 жыл бұрын
Yeah - I'll never understand why he was gainfully employed by ESPN for as long as he was. His schtick was never fun (it reeked of desperation) and his "football insights" were laughable - the most casual of fans could've provided more thoughtful insight on a game than our man Roy. And he always seemed to have it in for the Skins too. Say want you want about that team, but saying that their offensive line was a "weakness" was like saying that Miami was "still looking for answers at QB".

something interesting to note in this game. the redskins last desperation drive. before the snap of the redskins second play 2:35:02 the game clock was at :48 seconds. the play was flagged for a false start penalty, with the game clock running down to :45 seconds. after consulting with each other, the officials reset the game clock to :50 seconds 2:37:18 thus adding 2 seconds to the game. then a few plays later, the redskins last offensive play was a pass to the 50 yard line, where schroeder then spiked the ball to stop the clock. what was the time left? :02 seconds 2:41:29. just imagine if cox had made that miracle 67 yard field goal.

Firestone thought he was Dennis Miller, hate the thing he was going for with his persona. In 88 Joe Theismann became Mike Patrick's partner and they had good chemistry and lasted a long time together on the ESPN Sunday night games.

Firestone always had an issue with Schroeder. He always went out of his way to criticize him and never gave him any credit. When he had SPORTSTALK on ESPN, every Raiders loss was Schroeder’s fault, and every win was due to someone else’s effort.

I remember watching this game, probably 9 years old, and giggling my ass off after hearing "OH BULLSH**" on the overruled PI call... on national TV. I'm wondering if that was Marino yelling. They were also wrong about the Redskins being 12-1 against AFC East opponets in the last 13 games. The Redskins lot to Miami in 1984 and lost to both Miami and Buffalo in 1981 and to Miami and the Colts in 1978. If you really want to count their last 13 games against AFC East opponets including Miami in SB17 they were 8-5.

Man Ive gone back and watched a ton of these old marino gms and I did not realize growing up just how many passes Clayton and Duper DROPPED!!if they kept stats for that then It would be probably more then they caught,they were good but far from elite,I dont care how many TD'S Clayton had in 84 he dropped pass after pass as did Duper!!I thought they were a lot better but Ive watched many,many gms I didnt get to watch at the time cuz I lived in CT so I only saw 6-8 gms a yr,maybe 10 on a gd yr or deep playoff run,but WOW,dont ever wanna hear that argument of who made those offenses in the 80's Marino or the Marx Bros??MARINO,PERIOD!!

Watch the 1989 season where Clayton had the dropsies. He often made the really difficult catch and then he'd turn around and drop two in the breadbasket. Sometimes very frustrating but he and Duper were still good and fun to watch.
