I like that you did a recap on the outcome of the repair

Thank you. I will try to do that each time. Sometimes the repair will not work, but I will report it either way.

You always disconnect the negative cable, not the positive. You did alot of unnecessary work to relieve fuel pressure. The Schrader valve and gas cap would be sufficient.

Whole you are in there clean EGR. Save your self future work . Torque reg. cover to 15 in lb. Very important so as not to damage diaphram. Love these guys with so called shot cuts!!!

U know u don't have to mess with the fuel pump at all. All u have to do is depress the valve on the fuel rail and that will remove all fuel in the rail. It's just like letting air out of ur tire..
@vettepurist3044 жыл бұрын
It’s 15 in/lbs for those security torx screws on that regulator. If you over torque them it will tear the diaphragm and leak! You’ll have to do it all over again.

I found out one of those bolts heads was cut off with not enough sticking out of the hole to get pliers on thanks to the previous owner.

You could have added two quarters under the regulator to increase the factory fuel pressure a little bit.
@tomanderson81272 жыл бұрын
That wouldn't have corrected the hole in the rubber diaphragm leaking fuel into the vacuum line and intake.

Nice info thank you. Would it be worth to ultrasonic bath the plenum once removed to clean it or just carb cleaner? Does your ring get caught on lines all the time? Mine does 🤣

Can't complain enough about how dirty amd cluttered the L98 looks with all the emissions garbage in them. I removed all that and it's a lot easier to work on mine but hey idk about you but I live in a state where there's no smog inspections. Just complaining about the corvette l98 in general. Lol. Anyway, good tutorial on how to tackle that job. Good day!

Does everything work on your car like it should on your car, i would love to know if you have facebook if we could share some pictures of where some things are... previous owner really messed up alot of stuff, and i need to figure out where it all goes and looking at your engine bay it looks really neat and organized!

Hi Justin, Well, everything did work how it should until tonight. We jumped the timing chain. So, it's going to the shop tomorrow. What year do you have? Thank you for the complement on the engine bay. They are typically very simple. Here is my Facebook page. facebook.com/DrivingtheClassics You can share pictures on there if you like. Thank you, David

What were the symptoms and how did you calculate it was the fuel pressure regulator
@eddielujambio60643 жыл бұрын
My corvette was stored for 11 years. The fuel pump was bad and replaced. Now that I have it back together. The motor just barley runs@4500 rpm. When I try to push on the Excelerator it dies. I purchased this 85 from a neighbor who told me it ran great the day it was stored. What else could it be if it wasn’t the fuel pressure regulator?
@justindellimagine97953 жыл бұрын
@@DrivingTheClassics how did youtube JUST notify me of the response. That is crazy. ANYWAYS a lot of things happened since a year lol, i had an 88 auto whenever i messaged you but now i have a 92 manual and it runs really good but i still got the 88, its not running at the moment ill hit up your facebook still thank you for the reply!

I have a 85 and what mine does it's like it has no fuel pressure at all so I have to crank and crank it till it finally gets fuel. Would that also be the regulator?
@DrivingTheClassics Жыл бұрын
It could be a number of issues. Fuel pump, fuel filter, clogged injectors. Which was all happening with ours. This was the last item that we replaced. Unfortunately, there's a lot that could go wrong. You just have to eliminate each issue. Good luck.

The screws have a tiny dot in the middle that won’t allow the L wrench to get in place to unscrew it ….

@@JohnJacobJr1 First, does it turn over? if so, battery and starter or good. There are 3 main components that would contribute to it not starting if the first are good. No fuel, No spark or no air. Most of the time it's the first two. I would first check if you have fuel pressure. If not, start with the fuel pump and work up to the injectors. If that's good then check if you are getting spark. You can pull plug from the #1 cylinder and position it close to the block and crank it. If you see it arc then you have spark. from there it will depend on what you find. the C4's are a little mysterious sometimes. Ours left us scratching our heads a lot of times but we would eventually find out what it was.
