Yes it did have an exhaust leak however it had been fixed shortly after this video was made.

Ahhh the Cadillac 4.1. When you want the power of a 4 cylinder, but the sound and gas mileage of a tow truck.

Think of it like this, the HT4100 in the Allante made 170 horsepower, which is only about 60 less than the Ferrari Mondial did at the time. Remember that the Allante was also styled by Pininfarina and cost around half as much.

@@AiOinc1 I'd rock an Allante in a hot second if it was the later model with the Northstar. At least their head gasket problems are worth fixing LOL. (and still get way better mileage with almost double the power) I had the 4100 in an 83 Eldo....what a POS. After the first head gaskets I replaced started leaking again, I literally drained the coolant, refilled it with oil, and put another 10K on it. The 4.5-4.9 engines were a massive improvement. Had a 90 Eldo with the 4.9, and it had BALLS, reliable, but not worth getting 8-9mpg. My 93 Eldo was the best of all worlds of Cadillac (and all V8 cars) I've ever had. I definitely miss all the mid 80's-early 90's cars with the rad digital dashboards though. So hard to find anything (caddy, monte carlo, 2 door lincolns) in any shape you'd want to bother with anymore. Sometimes, though. Have an 05 Monte now, and it's okay, but meh. Want another old school 2 door bomber. Found a Lincoln Mark V with a 460....might get it.

Yes they can be very reliable when properly maintained. The Allante 4.1L is not the same as the regular HT4100 found in other Cadillac's. They can still have issues like anything else, but overall the Allante 4.1L and 4.5L are great engines that were enhanced and are more performance orientated. Same with the Northstar 4.6L V8 that I have in my 93 Allante. I sold these other Allante's a few years back. But when properly maintained, these engines will run forever. I hope this answers your question.

i got a 87 and my dash dont light up like that... idk gas and mileage... sucks. i put n new fuse but it starts 2 smoke from dash...😐????
