@@Good_ol_Butch - man you seriously do not understand these old classics. Firstly, many thousands of enthusiasts in classic vehicles just like this one, have done 100+ mph over the decades. These were 125 mph (200 kay +) cars back in their day. Just because they are old, doesn't mean they didn't and don't perform. These engines were 325hp (250kw) factory stock - with fantastic torque @ 430 lb-ft. They were also equipped with TALL rear gearing, an easy match for the torque, so that these highway speeds "could" be achieved. Trust me, this car is doing 100mph (160 kays) no drama. I also have a shed collection of these American cars & a workshop. You can take my word. Cheers.

@coolcosmic I am not talking about your 73 caddy. I am referring to this video and this car with obvious detonation the whole time he's got his foot up its ass. A great deal of people are not familiar with these cars. The OP's caddy ran 10.5:1 compression and required 103 octane with "leaded" fuel. And your 73 caddy is a low compression, detuned engine as the mandates from the EPA to reduce emissions forced manufactures to take drastic and detrimental (to ICE) to meet the mandates. The 8.2:1 compression your Caddy's engine has, it is fine on the 91 you're running. It's apples and oranges.

@@trunkmonkey9417 They didn't use 103 octane, people could get 101 but that was calling "racing fuel" back then and it was the highest you could get. Most normal then were 92-93 octane. By the 70s that came down to 87, 89, 93 and it's held to that today (Many today only go up to 91, depends on state but the highest available is 93). That caddy should be run with the 93, it would be fine.

It runs nice! Considering this is a 63 year old engine and car, a 4 speed hydramatic which was not known for great shifting quality or quick gear changes, the car weights over 5000 lbs empty, I would say it is putting in the work. Even if its only 90 mph on a GPS that car was made to cruise not run drags, and do so quietly. That car was only rated 0-100 in 28 seconds back in the day.

I personally had a few old Cadillacs over the years... The absolutely fastest were a 1960 DeVille ragtop with the Eldorado 3x2 option... Scary when ya stood on it! And a '69 convertible that dad and I really tuned up... It'd blow the doors off of the then-current 5.0 Mustangs and IROC Camaros... I really miss being able to find super clean old cars and paying $1,500 bux for them.😒
