Where were you that September? Were you anywhere yet? I'd just experienced the Summer of '88, when record high temps were frequently smashed and it didn't rain a drop here for 40 days and 40 nights. There were many other signs, globally. For me, based on all the research I'd done, the science was already settled. I read The Times, the Guardian, the Observer, Die Zeit, El Pais, and listened to the BBC. But you didn't have to be an astronaut, brain surgeon or climate researcher to understand global warming was a reality. You just had to NOT be an American Idiot. Now that requirement is more pivotal than ever. Of course NIGHTLINE was a deficient source: this "debate" blames developing nations for deforestation, when "first world" corporations play a huge role, but... I guess you could say the program "beat a blank."
