A lot of people are protesting, and more and more each weekend, and I hope that our determination will not decrease until this thing will be removed. I stay hopeful. Writing an essay on this subject for school. One thing I think's interesting is that it isn't only the government who can easily see everything you do online, it's also companies. This is something Orwell couldn't imagine when he wrote it, but companies hear everything you say and know so much about you. I remember my brother telling me about a teenage girl who started getting loads of pregnancy test adverts and it turned out she was pregnant. Tiny changes in your behaviour online tell so much about you. It's terrifying.
@MickeyMousePark10 ай бұрын
An important part is that these things you speak of government and companies and the public in general can see what you do online..not through some secret method..most of the information is given willingly through social media...given 10 minutes I can select a person and gather a huge amount of personal information about that person.. I have been in IT (Database designer iis my forte i am involved in all facets of software) for over 40 years.i have been screaming at people to not share their entire life online..but of course no one listened ...and now they are angry that that information is being used against them... A few years back i was part of a software development team that created an app that allows large corporations that are promoting or hiring someone for middle or upper management (including C-Level) to do a complete search on all social media platforms and flag comments or posts they have made that would be concerning to the company..the results of something like this is teens and 20 somethings make an edgy inflammatory posts and then 20 years later they cannot be promoted and are stuck in a low end job... This started in the early days of the internet thinking that you can be anonymous on the internet..that myth was never true from the begining..with the spread of social media millions of people decided to share their private thoughts and daily tasks ..then those same people yell and scream when companies and or the government use that information for targeting or advertising etc.. The story you said about a teen girl is definitely plausible ..with a billions data points companies can make interesting comparisons..lets say a teen girl gets pregnant and after she has the baby of course she talks about it on social media ...a company can take that information and track back 9 months and look at what she was doing online..build a standard profile and anyone that fits that profile online gets hammered with targeted advertising..

Don’t worry. The kind of authoritarian control that Orwell was concerned about isn’t part of our reality in the free world. We’re, luckily, still miles away from that. Is there things to be concerned about in our reality, that are also things Orwell warned about ? Absolutely - the level of surveilance we are all under is very close to what Orwell feared, and it’s exactly as dangerous as he feared. Some would argue that it’s not the same because it’s private companies that are doing the surveilance - but I don’t agree. It doesn’t matter who is watching you, if you’re being watched that is already bad. Nor can they make the usual “in capitalism every transaction is mutually beneficial” response because there is no transaction, we are not the customer, we are being turned into the product. And finally, since they are all too happy to sell access to the data to anybody who will pay (that’s why they collect it), the government can always just buy their own access, so you’re being watched by the government as well anyway. It’s interesting that they’ve made significant efforts to try and avoid ever handing data over under a court-order or warrant, for example by storing everyone’s data in a different jurisdiction to where that person lives. I’m an incurable cynic about rich people - I don’t believe they did that out of any concern for privacy - they ARE the reason we don’t have any - they did that, because they want governments to have to BUY access to what they surveiled, not get it for free under a warrant. They just didn’t like having to give away their product without getting paid. We may not be living in Orwell’s reality as I stated - but if anything could get us there, products like Alexa is what will. A temporary stay-at-home situation due to a pandemic ? Nah. Societies have dealt with things like this for literally thousands of years, quarantine orders date back to plague outbreaks in the middle ages. The first stay-at-home order in America was issued under the very first congress and signed by President Washington when then capitol Philadelphia lost half it’s population in a cholera outbreak. Nah, COVID-19 is not Orwell’s reality - it’s very far removed from it. Being constantly observed by companies that do not have our best interests at heart, now THAT is straight out of 1984. It’s far from enough to say that we’re in that reality, but it’s a dangerous step in that direction.

Censoring information (deeming anything they say as false, misinformation, or calling things conspiracies or labeling people as extremeists, or generalizing a group and demonizing them, etc. Whatever discredits them) Protecting the "truth" means totalitarianism. As leftist ideologies CANNOT exist without censorship and moderation. Narratives, in other words. In order to protect their narrative, they censor, ban, dehumanize, lynch, or try desperately to impeach those that stand against them. They control erry major institution, main stream medias, social medias, etc. We all know the mainstream narrative in America, for example. Orange man bad, right wing is evil, patriotism is bad and hard work should be ridiculed, and other lies/slander. When in fact, leftist ideologies/narratives cannot exist without the 2 basic principles: Censorship and Accord. It's the 3rd state of the fascist philosophy: Nothing Against The State. The forcible suppression of opposition. "Either you think this way (Accord), or else.. (Censorship)" You've all seen this trait errywhere. It's an echo chamber, you can only say certain things, or get banned/suspended/canceled. It requires a collective mindset. Without totalitarianistic rule, one example of free speech is enough to tear down any leftist ideology. Leftism appeals to the worst of man, and to idiots. It's PURELY propaganda and only benefits the ruler, often known as a Dictator Orwell wrote the book 1984 criticizing Stalin, Leftism in general. To understand what the book is about and leftist ideology, all you need to learn are the hidden/censored definitions of a few words and some basic history. I haven't even read the book (Only a summary) and I alrdy know errything that happens and how it came to be that way. When I learned of the book and listened to the summary, the first thing I thought of was the *Beast System.* And nothing has made more sense than that moment. And ever since, I've only been watching my country, the last safe haven, fall into the hands of these people. I know how they did it, and I know exactly what comes next. Leftism is executed one way, and has only ONE end game. 1984. Or how I come to know it by now, Agenda 2030 I can 101% guarentee you, if people knew the true definition of just the word FASCISM, the 3 states of the fascist philosophy and it's origins, there wouldn't be a leftist in existence. I can also 101% guarentee you that there is no a leftist out there that understands basic economics and history and remains a leftist. If there are, they're probably rich/powerful or a politician. Greed or hatred

The fact that it's been hijacked in the last few decades by perverse and insane people so that now it has no sensibilities and is saturated with everything gross and graphic should be what we should be condemning. Also, that lack of sensibilities is a reflection of society in the past few decades, which has been hijacked by the same people, the extreme left, which is most of the left, which has radicalized and desensitized society, so the abuse of those who oppose tyrany, plutocracy, and conspiracies is not very surprising.

I look back and truly regret not reading it, processing it mentally, and taking it to heart back then. This is truly horrifying and I see all of this taking place in reality more and more. When I was a teen in the 90's the whole idea of adopting any kind of label was just not happening, we rejected it. Todays youth not only loves labels but will make up more to tack on to themselves like standing out and being unique or an individual is wrong somehow. It is the craziest shit to watch take place. The hivemind mentality they possess also is mind boggling to me. Truth, facts, reality can not be "subjective" for any society to succeed. And believing something just because someone with more money or a higher position says so, is insanity.
@wendypollock81682 жыл бұрын
Hive mind mentality? Oh, you mean how 74 million people think Trump was sent by god? Or the millions that believed everything written on a blog site by a random stranger who went by the name "Q"?
@jff10732 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Labels definitely existed in the 90s. Maybe you personally didn't use labels, but that doesn't mean that nobody was. More than that, labels usually exist to describe an experience someone is already having. E.g. I was bi before I labeled myself as bisexual, in the same way, a heterosexual is attracted to the "opposite" gender even if they don't label themselves as straight specifically. A label exists to describe an experience that is already taking place.

What is an item you sit on - a "chair" that is a 'label" so yes labels, if you want to use that term, have always existed. What we have now are people creating labels based on feelings, or world view, rather than actual differences and demanding special treatment and that everyone accept of their 'label'. They vilify any person who won't conform to their ideas. That is not on.

It isn’t becoming a reality.

"the slave will protect the master" like the addict will protect the object of their addiction and the dependent will protect the object of their dependency. as long as the slaves continue to identify with their slave masters rather than with other slaves, humanity is doomed. our slave masters may be on the right or left. they may be black or white, gay or straight, religious or athiest. it doesn't matter. we buy our slave masters' overpriced, police-state products. we believe whatever lies or insanity our slave masters tell us. we comply with our slave masters' every wish and command. fascists claim having a job makes you independent. THAT'S JUST CRAP! employment is mere slavery and dependence on your employer. people claim govt programs are for our benefit but all it does it increase the wealth of the rich and create a govt dependence for our daily survival. govt programs are just as slave inducing as employment. WE'RE ALL SLAVES TO OUR ELITIST MASTERS. either we're enslaved to the elite through employment OR govt programs. it doesn't matter if that elite is in the private or public sectors - ITS THE SAME ELITE! they don't care whether we're enslaved by or dependent on them through business or govt. JUST AS LONG AS WE'RE ENSLAVED! and they use this dichotomy to keep us divided and keep THEM in power. the elite have succeded in turning humanity into a slave species. and we've been falling for this scam for OVER 6000 years! i say its time for a change.

It's kind of a mind-blowing content right here. This video is a real eye-opener, it tells and draws parallels between our current society and the dystopian world of 1984. It showcases how totalitarian regimes instill mass fear and maintain control over citizens through force, propaganda, and surveillance. The constant monitoring of citizens, the culture of suspicion and mistrust, and the manipulation of information have created a state of confusion and disorientation. This video is nothing short of a wake-up call, and Winston's story in "1984" serves as a timely warning against the dangers of totalitarianism. The bottom line is we must remain vigilant against the encroachment of totalitarianism and fervently defend the principles of truth, freedom, and individual autonomy. Or at least try to…

The most orwellian 1984 moment we had here in L.A county during the shutdowns/quarantine/mandates was when folks who had been trusted neighbohrs for years were snitching on each others business for violating those mandates and quaratines folks lost their businesses here. In the film the kids were snitching on their parents.

The fact that you’re asking for an example shows that you did not do your homework of the past 3 years. Reading only the mainstream news keeps one blind. It’s a reiteration of what we’re seeing that you have to look at the sources of the quotes in this video before you know whether they’re from historical figures or Orwell in 1984. Fear is used as a tool to disorient and subjugate. It’s been almost two years of “the bug” and people are still dominated by fear and disinformation. They yell at and scorn people who question their opinions. “Cloth mask work, of course! You must want to kill people!!” “Antibodies??, they’re not effective! Queue up and get the jab. Take your medicine. You’re life and mine depend on it!” “The only thing more dangerous that the virus is the people who dissent. It’s a virus of the unvaccinated.” What a terrible state we’re in.
