Crazy that a car like that ends up in a salvage yard. Seems to have good body panels

@@pstreetgarage7304 It's a lot of work to replace those frame rails and inner fenders. Most people don't want to deal with it.

@NathansMoparGarage yep. And they were loud and obnoxious (the teenagers and the cars). I remember growing up there was a boulevard by me to cruise on but you would have these idiots with no brains and a 5.0 trying to pretend they knew how to drive (let alone race). I guess it's true what they say about Mustang owners.....

@@LongIslandMopars 😂 I may have embarrassed a few of them with my 68 300.
@LongIslandMopars6 күн бұрын
@NathansMoparGarage hopefully so. We embarrassed several with my friend's 76 Volare coupe. Plain Jane except for staggered Mopar Rallye wheels and mufflers that dumped before the rear diff. He built a 318 like a 340 Magnum. Originally a slant six, he changed the k-frame to one from a wrecked Diplomat along with the rear. This was back in the late 80s. On its last run before we pulled the drivetrain we figured we were doing 130mph before we ran out of pavement. The drivetrain went into a 71 Challenger with a mint body and interior but had a bad 318 in it. He bought that for $2500 back in like 1990. Can you imagine? Those days are gone forever.
@NathansMoparGarage6 күн бұрын
@LongIslandMopars That's great deal. I bought my 300 for $1800 in 97. I couldn't afford a decent B body. Than I bought a solid 74 Duster roller for $800 a few years later. Some guy wanted me to look at a couple E bodies he was selling, kinda wish I did but I kinda didn't have any where to go with more cars.

Happy New Year. Yes, 1988 model year with the VIN for the win: 1FA for US made Ford passenger car, B for manual seat belts, P42 for Mustang GT hatchback, E for 5.0L (302 CID) V8 with EFI, aka "Never since Mr. Ed has a horse spoken this clearly", 8 is a check digit, J for the 1988 model year, F for Dearborn, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Dearborn, MI plant operated until 2004 and what is left of it is part of today's Rouge complex. We got the tag, we can brag: 61B for Mustang two-door hatchback, 9L for Oxford White exterior paint, WWW for white bodyside molding with red insert stripe, PG for Medium Gray low back bucket seat interior trim, 9 for AM-FM electronic stereo cassette radio, M for 2.73:1 rear axle ratio, locking aka "Traction Lok", 2 for Borg-Warner T-5 five speed manual transmission with overdrive, and 47 for Cincinnati, OH sales district. Whoa Nelley, this Fox no longer rocks. In rust we do not trust.
