I was 8 watching this game. Probably the second a loss really really saddened me, the 1st being the prior year again in the playoffs. That was against Washington, a game where they had a 14-0 lead. Remember everyone in Chicago and at school saying there was no way SF coupe lose in “Bear Weather”. Third straight year Bears lost a home playoff game. Keep up the great work, man!

49ers were magic in the 80's.

This is where the window for the 84 to 88 Bears closed. Instead of playing in another Super Bowl with the talent they had, they only had one. After blowing a 14-0 against the Redskins in the playoffs the year before, the Bears had one more chance to make to a Super Bowl and the 49ers just rolled them over. It showed why the 49ers were the team of the 80's because they played together as a team while the Bears let the success of 85 get to their heads with commercials, flash and flair. The 49ers were about the team and played together as a team when they had their backs up against the wall when they had a 6-5 record. For Jim McMahon that was his last game as a Bear. He was with the Chargers in 89. The Bears started out with a 4-0 record before the roof caved in. One more playoff win in 89 wildcard and then a quit exit against a significantly better Giants team in the divisional round. Then their last Dikta playoff appearance in 91 against the Cowboys in the wildcard had quick exit. The Cowboys would then be the team of the 90's as the 92 Bears just went down the toilet and after being destroyed in the last game of the 92 season, Singletary retired and Dikta was fired. THIS HERE was the beginning of the end of the Dikta Bears. Where the window closed for this team.

Summerall and Madden, you knew it was gonna be a big game. I miss announcers that don't scream all the time. Those Bears were pretty good but the Niners, wow! Montana just carved up the blitz.

McMahon was pitiful in this game. That 2nd quarter INT was inexcusable. Bears were driving and that int killed the momentum
