I knew someone who had a 924 with that interior, then they swapped it for a pinstriped 911 and I still missed the 924 because of that cloth.

@@rmp5s yesss!! Like some steampunk type sounds and feels lol. The little extra keyhole for the alarm. Mine had the original blaupunk stereo and everything. Bought from an attorney who's wife wanted it sold for a hot tub. Had his law school sticker on it still, which came in handy to tell the ladies I was an attorney 🤣🤣 Seriously though, meat and potatoes were a freaking tank. The sensors and small parts...not so much. Had it break down on a date once. Not cool obvs, but aside from one full on maintenance overhaul with balance shaft belts/all belts water pump etc, it only ever left me sitting twice,which was water pump and then a relay switch of some sort. If I recall correctly the engine was literally half of a 928?
@rmp5s2 жыл бұрын
@@hcm1457 Hahaha...put that lawyer sticker to work! lol Half a 928? Not sure. That may be a bit of a tricky question as I'm pretty sure there is more than one version of the engine that was used in the 928.

944 turbo S owner here, couldnt wait for this video to come out and am very glad Matt loved it! Three corrections: 1)it is 250Hp 2) around 1650 were built, 1000 with the Silverrose interior 3)it costed 105000 of todays USD, so comparing it to a Miata sounds a cruel :) This is a serious track car who was fitted with a comfortable interior and an exhaust cutting over 20 horses. Thanks Matt and Dillon!
@ipwndrums7 жыл бұрын
how are miatas not considered "serious track cars"? you put too much weight onto the financial aspect of that statement. miatas have a perfect 50/50 weight ratio, rwd, mostly all manual etc... and also go to a track and tell me when you DON'T see one there.
@joshblumenstetter10566 жыл бұрын
The early '88 944S were originally all Silverose and were a special "stand alone" model. They were originally designed to be a limited production model. They became so popular that they wound up being a regular model available in any Porsche color. At the time of their production, they were known as one of the hottest cars that you could buy.

When I was in high school, I saved 5K in cash to get a car. Saw that 944 prices had dropped. This was in 1990! I was 17 and found a one-owner 1985 1/2 with only 35K miles, and I traded a crap Saab worth 6K, but somehow got the dealer to give me 9500 for the Saab, and paid 4K cash on a 13,500 ask for the 944. Red. Phone dial wheels. Perfect interior. And with the newer 911 dash of that time. For a 17 year old kid, it was sick. My friends hated me, but I was like: fuck you, I earned it, and they were all driving cars three times as expensive from mommy and daddy's garage.

- Agree 100 percent from personal experience from 1989. (My college years) Friend had a 944 turbo S, friends dad an 1986 930. Both were new cars. 944 easy to drive fast. 930 was old school VW feel with a 4 speed from the floor. We used to take the both out nights cruising, but the 944 was all around a more modern easier to drive fast car. 930 was excellent mainly in a straight line, (could hit 90 MPH in second gear easily)

Also remember the 1989 944 Turbo just took over the full 944 Turbo S spec, and they dropped the conventional non-S turbo in '89. 944s continued through 1991 but the 90 and 91 model years had no more turbos, and only the S2 (with the 3.0 liter 225 HP I4 that was the earlier version of the 968 motor).

To go from the regular 944 Turbo to the Turbo S, you got a larger turbo, ride height-adjustable Koni shocks, a hardened steel-cased gearbox, and many other factory race spec parts. BD-Power has a turbine diverter valve for T4-style turbos that makes it spool up like a tiny turbo. It should work for other turbos too. it doesn't affect horsepower, but the turbo spools faster and makes more low-end torque. putting something on that to help lessen the lag would be interesting
@funkingitup18057 жыл бұрын
Even though it would make the car better, it would severely hurt the resell value. Purists are usually the ones willing to spend big dollars for mint examples. Tuners want a deal.
