You have a button on center console to toggle the functionality of that mirror joystick to adjust pasenger side mirror. Antenna shouldn't be there, it should be in the windshield, SEKURIT windshields are available and not particularly expensive, but you need to find a shopt that knows how to install post 85.5 windshield, it suppose to have external rubber seal. Also the speakers at the top of your doors don't look original.

Bought a 944 Turbo S new in 1988. Such a fantastic car especially for the era.
@goosey48404 жыл бұрын
Did you sell it or?
@senbukan13453 жыл бұрын
The Turbo S is a significant improvement over the standard turbo. Plus, for the US market, there's under 5000 car produced---so it's scarce, especially for a real good one. Plus, many people complain about the turbo lag. IF you're driving the car aggressively and especially with the turbo S, it's virtually non-existent especially if you know how to drive the car. I have a 1989 Turbo (all '89's had the S specs) with low miles (54K) and I've had the car for over 25 years. The car is a blast and in the right situations, still competitive with newer more powerful machinery of today---especially in the 80-120 mph range. IF you have to have the best, try to get an 88 Turbo S or any 1989 model. Look for an unmolested fully original car

Unless you have it in an extreme climate controlled setting---the car will start to cause more problems than it's worth if you don't put at least 1-2K miles on it per year. I take mine out at least once a month for a 25-50 mile blast. Car is so involving, it's like riding a motorcycle. Watch the understeer though. The car MUST be turned with the wheel, especially as the speed you're driving increases

Well, it finally happened! My Old 86 944 turbo- Vette- Mustang killer is finally getting the respect it deserves! I Liked your review Nick, just an FYI- the alarm was optional, my car doesn’t have it. I also have power mirrors, both sides! I’m not sure 13,000 turbo models over 4 years imported to the US qualifies as make a bunch of them though. U only left out a few important things. Only production car for Decades, balanced absolutely perfect 50/50. handling is incredible! Huge Brembo brakes, decades before any American manufacturers even knew what the Hell a Brembo was! Real tuning- computer controlled turbo KLR and engine! 100 real horse power-and an 800 rpm increase to redline by tuning alone! In 1988, I added a K26#8 turbo Porsche cup-racing head gasket, and ARP studs. I blew the doors off every last Porsche on that track. Corvette club versus Porsche club track day in the 80s. Was a pathetic JOKE! You could run a 951 around the track all day. I didn’t know what brake trade was! Until I drove one of the Vettes more then 2 laps! 951s are race cars that it just so happens u can drive on the street. If your lucky enough to get one, hope it has the sport seats, they are as good as any racing seat and are simply beautiful to look at.

Well you need more time with this car, because power mirror options has a switch "it should anyways" by the sun roof switch and the audio knob by the gear lever. This allows the passenger mirror to then take over. People delete these switches and such over the years due to poor maintenance and costly repairs. Pop up headlights are all the rage even today as it hides the ugly lights or eyeball look and then presents itself at night. Granted they look very dated but if that's not your cup of tea look at GT lights. Theres now amazing options for lights.

It was a joy to drive. A word of caution is that these are highly complex cars; very over engineered. I sold it before it would kill me in the cost of repairs. I wouldn’t touch one now. Under powered by 2020 standards for sure. But the same horsepower as the normally aspirated 911 1986-1989 (217hp). And in 1989 the Turbo S motor was standard, with 247hp, almost equaling the 250hp of the 1989-1993 911/964.
@INDIGOBLUE5554 жыл бұрын
Yes,that's true. In Europe (Italy)220 hp were claimed by the factory while 231 hp were claimed for the Carrera 3.2 - In its days that was a jolly good power output and the S version was fitted with a 250hp engine which was absolutely brilliant for a daydriver in the late 80es. This said, as an ex owner of 944 and 944turbo I can't really understand the reason for their value is rocketing in our days: the aspirated 944 was considered dead slow since it was marketed all its life long,and some good reasons are there. The turbo was a superb fast commuter,virtually as fast as the Carrera offering better riding comfort on long trips,alas I did rate it as a boring car in most respects as an owner,and that's still my opinion. The factory,in full awareness of the aspirated 944 lack of performance presented the 4 valves evolution tuned at 190hp : no wonder it was quicker yet suffering a narrow torque range. The turbo was the one to go for.

I got my 83 944 and my 83 911 SC in the Hamptons on Long Island, were they give away cars and they all only have 30k on them even 86 SAABs I got a dark blue 88 560 SEl with 13 k for 3,000 like it was driven off the showroom,one Saab I got and the Benz still had those little spikes of rubber on the tires lol and the 83 944 because there driven in town only once a year for a few months, I've bought German cars that go for 30-50k for 3-4 grand with 30k and made a fortune,the 83 body style was my favorite but was a dog, so I did an LS1 and got the weight down to 2,900 pounds and both Porsches are under car covers at my dads summer house in a barn, there worth 80% more then I paid, the 944 I got for 1,200 lol original Guards red wet-sanded like new and the interior was perfect added phone dails then i for free drove an 88 944 turbo off someone's lawn, they just wanted it gone,i put in 800 and waited untill 2012 and sold it for 22,000 lol and all the cars from the super-rich have dealer records and have been serviced only by the dealers...maybe i should get a flat bed or trailer and do that for fun,as I'm retired now,i also had a POresche rally cup racer (i paid by the day) to teach me how to worked on the the first air cooled 911 and thee 944 before the convert,which the oil in the radiator issue wasnt fixed until the 85.5 and left me with a Rally shirt from Porsche saying mechanic,as he told my those 3 engines you pocked up so fast you're now a mechanic for those to engines lol

every great car has a sweet spot ,the 944 sweet spot was in 2002-2009 2-4 grand,now the 97 and 98 Boxster is the sweet spot for that car now,the sweet spot is where its the cheapest and when you go lower in the years it gets more expensive and as you go up the same

Guess i fucked up big time. Had an 86 951 turbo. Got it for $2700 in 2011. Ran like a dream. Started leaking from the main seal, timing belt was old, I freaked out, sold it for $3000. Now I have a 335i and a Tesla. Wish I kept the 951 as a weekend car.

Hello! There's a switch on the centre console to switch between the driver side power mirror and the passenger side one 😂

Good video ! Dont you have the button underneath the stereo so you can adjust the mirror on the right side ? I have it on mine. The antenna for the radio is originally in the windshield. The antenna looks aftermarket glas antenna. Your video has helped me deciding to keep my 944 Turbo.Anyway, have a great day. BR Ted W

Love this style of Porsche cause it's front engine but imagine if it was rotary powered the other side of the back said rotary turbo instead of just turbo

Nick, the first Porsche I ever owned was a 944T. At the time, I was barely in my 20's and knew nothing about the car, except that it was fast, and looked beautiful in white. I regretfully sold it and have always wanted to pick up another one. This time around, I'd pick up the Turbo S with the larger K26. Great video though, makes me reconsider what Porsche I'll pick up as my garage queen next year.

First of all, you don't say pop-up headlights are ugly. Ever. Second of all, the passenger mirror is operated electronically also, by the same button as the driver's. You just need to flip the switch at the center console. If that is not the case, it has been messed with. You absolutely don't adjust the mirror from outside.
