This was the final Rose Bowl that would ever be covered by NBC.

ABC's coverage is no where close to NBC's. NBC rolled out the pro announcers, Gowdy and Enberg but now it just seems like another bowl game.

No. 86 for Michigan State was Rich Gicewicz, a tight end. He caught two passes that season. You can find more information on the team by accessing college football reference or the Michigan State football website. Hope this helps.

Just wish Criqui would get more notoriety for the games he got to announce.

I'll never understand why Michigan State decided to only win a handful of Big Ten Championships/ Rose Bowls.

What is overlooked here is Tony Mandarich faked a negative drug test to play in this game and Mandarich admits to this in his book that he has out. He admits he was taking steroids at the time of this game.

MSU fans, how many of your fans did you bring to Pasadena for the bowl game? I've heard one person say 55,000 but I would like to know for sure.

@vidEvWill Very true. At least he admitted to cheating and should not have played. Unlike that Woodson character for michigan who hired an agent BEFORE playing in the '97 Rose Bowl against WSU. At least Nebraska was rightfully awarded the National Championship that year & left left poor wolvie with ZERO NCs since the invention of the television. How long before U-M once again raises those Final Four banners they bought with the Fraud 5? UM athletic department..."Nothing to see here!!!"
