The soviets weren't playing, they had amazing skills. This was 88, and some of these tricks are top difficulty *even today.*

absolute best men's gymnastics team ever assembled

It’s wild to me that they left Mogilny home and Korolev didn’t make the team because he was hurt. The depth of the talent the Soviets had is absolutely staggering.

I was geared to throw shade at the last guy but damn he threw a double layout with a full on those 88 springs under the floor which are way smaller than today's. Then that second pass, which is still amazing

Why were you going to throw shade? 😭🤔

Just one power FX routine after another. Nice to see "artistry" in men's FX, unlike today's routines.

Double layout back handspring double back!! I am deceased.

The greatest MAG floor rotation in history, IMHO. Sad to think Gogoladze may have lost a tenth for not holding a scale after all that tumbling! The triple was jaw dropping, the perfection of the easier second pass equally so.

Perhaps but he way under rotated his last full-in so that big step on his last landing would have cost him more than not holding the scale long enough

I have never seen double back alternates in my life. that was pretty cool

Did I just see him do a tripple backflip?

You did!

Just think about how MUCH SMALLER the springs were under this floor, today's floors have much more spring to them! His FX routine was SO MUCH more complete and had a REAL variety of skills, NOT just tumbling from one side of the FX to the other side!!!!

Mounting for the Gods🙏 Novikov - double layout immediate back handspring double tuck 🤯🤯🤯 Gogaladze - triple back 🤯🤯 Bilozerchev - piked full-in (understandable due to Shatter Leg) Lyukin - double layout Artemov - double layout Kharkov - layout full-in 🧑🍳💋

The best mens team ever, and that's even without Korolev! The ideal blend of power, difficulty, grace and presence on the floor.

80年代の体操なのにレベル高い気がする。 この時代は側宙転とムーンサルトが流行ってたのか。

These guys were the most dominant team ever, some of my favorite gymnasts of all time. Some of these routines would hold up today (with a couple more passes, of course.) HOWEVER, here are my scores for these routines: Novikov 9.5, Gogoladze 9.7, Bilozerchev 9.8, Liukin 9.8, Artemov 9.8, Kharkov 9.8. Judging was always a problem in the 80's. Gotta watch form in the air and the fact that Kharkov didn't stick his dismount.

We glorify there gymnastics. But this was the Soviet Union. The amount of abuse they had to go through was a lot to get this good
@ImmortalSynn2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's easy to forget the incredible abuse that went into their program.... brought so clearly to the forefront when, after breaking her neck and becoming permanently paralyzed, Elena Mukhina's first reaction was basically "hooray, I don't have to train anymore!" :(
