The gymnastics competition during 1970s to 1990s was the real gymnastics sport.

People talk about the loss of artistry is women’s gymnastics but I think the men have also suffered a huge loss in artistry as well. Artemov was beautiful to watch.
@Boban16113 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct... they suffer the same consequences.... abolishing the 'perfect ten' system was a huge mistake in my eyes. There is no time for artistry anymore, since you need the limited exercise time to collect points for difficulty, combinations, skills.... 🤬 It is as it is.... they will never turn back to the old system, even though I doubt the audience understands what is happening on the podium now. I remember a competition years ago, when the new system was already implemented. She fell from the apparatus and still won the gold medal, while the runner-up had a solid routine (remember this is world elite), but still not enough to pass the female, who actually made a major mistake. 🥴😠😵😱🤮 That was the point I lost it.... I like to watch the old competitions. Period. 💚😃😎

It's become more of a cheerleader thing now, unfortunately.

@@Fernando-dt8je. Worse than that for the men. They’ve become completely robotic. Nothing but ugly tumbling that doesn’t even include BHSs, just running and punching the ground to twist/flip.

I agree 100% The beauty and artistry of this sport is gone! So sad to see what gymnastics has morphed into! Basically just power tumbling now.

Gosh...watching this is such a delight! This is why I fell in love with gymnasts and he is also the last classic male gymnast, in my opinion. Sherbo, Belenky, Korobchinsky and Misutin were amazing but Artemov had the artistry, the line and the amplitude., along with Nemov. They were like dancers and athletes: just watch his FX sequence prior to his dismount: the full twisting dive roll-stag jump-Y scale diplays what I love about this sport.

He was definitely my favorite gymnast at the Olympic Games in 1988. So sad - men's gymnastics lost almost all its beauty (similar to women's gymnastics) - but that's all part of a structural problem with all the new rules and regulations in that sport, that changed so much throughout the years..... They wanted to make it more spectacular and downhill it went.

You are totally right. It was an exciting competition and I am glad he showed the stability and difficulty to win the gold medal and become the Olympic Champion in the All Around. Really an awesome guy.

@@Boban1611 He sure did, after years of coming in behind the leaders, he finally got to show the world what he can do! He was always amazing on the parallel bars, but now he showed what he could do everywhere else!

Can you make a compilation of Bilozerchev and Liukin?
@Boban1611 Жыл бұрын
You mean in the way I did for Artemov? In Germany they did not show 2 routines of Bilozertschev in the All Around, because the leading gymnasts did their routines at the same time during rotations. I don't understand though, why they didn't show them in replay in between rotations, while the gymnasts marched to the next apparatus. I did a tribute for Bilozertschev though.... you can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lauud3ypialpg68 And there is another video from the All Around, where I added parts of routines of all three gymnasts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haqqd394rNGtqaM
