I owned a 1988 (US). It was a litle slow on the highway but, it was great in 4WD areas. Wishi I still had it. Too bad we don't have the Jimny here in the US

It’s very slow, but it keeps going

I've had the Samurai as my only car for just over 6 years and there is no doubt in my mind that this is the best car ever made. Seriously. It weights way less than the lightest Porsche 911. It is geared like a motorbike - extremely long 2nd and 3rd. It revs up to 7.500rpm. As a result - on twisty roads I would overtake just about anything including BMW 5 series, BMW 6 or BMW X5 M. On a twisty mountain road Samurai is a serious contender. In winter it is the king of the roads and off the road - especially after it's rained it reliably gets to places where no other vehicle except a tractor ever will. Other SUV stand no chance as they are all desperately heavy. And every car park - even if it's full - has a spot where nobody could fit. It's reserved for the Samurai. Then there are his capabilities of what he can transport. Which are beyond belief. Either inside, on the roof or pulled. 8m long wooden beams? No problem - just tie them on the roof top. I know it because I've built a house on a place where there was no road. On the top of a hill! There were a few things which I got pulled up by a tractor but tons of bricks, people, and just about everything else was transported by this little warrior. In mud, snow, ice, rain... Nothing ever stopped him. On one occasion in winter he was loaded with bricks and pulled a lorry up the hill loaded with some more bricks. And what did I give him back? Nothing! I just used him. What this car withstood is indescribable. A brilliant brilliant humble servant. And a tough tough warrior. I've beaten him so badly I will have to sell him. It breaks my heart but there's no way round it. I was busy building the house. Which has come to be a memorial to the Samurai. I know how silly it seems but had anyone gone through what we have they would understand. It doesn't just put smile on your face every time you drive it - this is love. This thing doesn't just have soul - it's a being. It's a Samurai. It really is.

I had one in 1989-90-91. I lived in the mountains back than in Switzerland. The Samurai was amazing. A super vehicle in the mountains. Mud, snow, water, hillclimbs it didn‘t matter. I loved the Samurai!!! I once even towed a Mitsubishi Pajero out of the snow and ice. The driver was very embaressed.💪 I don‘t understand why they don‘t build these anymore!

That sounds amazing! Yes, I am alwayd surprised at how easy it is to take the Samurai through the trickiest situation.

It really is. The light weight, solid axles, and low range make it perfect for playing around. Cheers

Great video, but watch your exhaust on those dry weeds. Can start a fire even after you leave.

Thanks, good observation!! I usually do watch for that when I park, but must have missed it here. Thanks for the reminder
