Keeping with the theme of Clementine, you could go with Fuji or Kanzi which are both apple varieties that are red and give a nod to the car's Japanese roots. Otherwise, Rosie, Garnet, Scarlet, and Ruby are all kind of vintage-sounding names that flow well with Clementine.
@heatherpatricia58692 жыл бұрын
Or even Blossom!! Which fits the Japanese theme (thinking Japanese cherry blossom) but then also the powderpuff girl named Blossom had a red bow right? (So it fits the color theme)

Might look into getting a clear wrap put on the body AND windshield. Just to keep the new vehicle in such good shape. Flat tow vehicles have such a large risk of rocks getting kicked up from the camper and chipping the paint and cracking the windshield. Just a suggestion to look into. Love you guys!

Had a Samurai to tow behind our motorhome when we first got it. Very lightweight and easy to tow. Find an owners manual for it and follow the instructions for flat towing. If I'm not mistaken, they recommend periodically starting and circulating trans and transfer case fluid, after a specific amount of miles.

I had a 1986 Samurai with a similar lift and hard top. I towed it behind a motorhome as well. I don't remember if Clementine has a backup camera, but you will need one because the Samurai is so narrow you won't be able to see it with your side mirrors. Two more tidbits. 1) when towing it put the transfer case in neutral, the transmission in 2nd gear (I know seems wrong) and put the key in the on position to unlock the steering. You will also want to disconnect the battery or have a battery disconnect switch. Stop every 500 miles and start the engine and cycle through the gears a few times. 2) It's so light that I would often tow it behind my V6 2007 Toyota 4Runner even without a brake controller - I know not recommended but my point is when you pick it up in Florida you could easily tow it behind your Durango though I would definitely recommend a brake controller for that distance and safety. p.s. you were smart to avoid carbureted Samurai's because the choke works off a wax diaphragm that has to heat and melt to work and they can be very temperamental. Grats on your new toy, you will love it!

One of the most under-rated off road vehicles in existence is the Suzuki Vitara. (I'm not sure they were available in the USA). Extremely capable, even more so than the Sammy, and was built with a flat tow mode, even in the automatic. But the Samurai (sold in Australia as the Sierra) are a cool little rig!

I was in high school when the Samurai came out. They were all over the place. One always seemed to be upside down in a ditch on this specific freeway off ramp. Keep in mind most of these were driven by high school student at the time. We always obeyed the posted speed limit.... not. Double the posted speed on a turn makes it a flip over risk... Sounds like an ID Ten T error to me ;-)

I read some comments and didn’t see this in those I read, but I hadn’t read them all so apologies if I missed it. What I ended up going to was the song “oh my darling clementine” and looking for ideas there. Some thoughts Ruby - referenced in song to her lips. Sister - who the singer ended up with after clementine passed. Miner - Forty-niner - clementine’s father who loved her lots. Then I also looked up companion plants for clementines. Apparently there are lots of great companion plants but the ones that closest matched the color that I loved were: marigolds, petunias, and nasturtium so I’d recommend using any of those too! Plus I can’t wait to see that tattoo Allison - minus pass out! 🤗🙏🤩 I ALSO loved seeing you guys do the “we bought a car!” And have it be for real! Warmed my heart! ❤️ Anybody know how many times you guys have joked about that over the years? It was funny because as I watched the video I was already coming up with names way before you asked for one and Tango kept coming into my head. So since it's a tangor, Tango for short would be PERFECT!!!

Looks like you found yourself a nice one. I personally would kept the 1.3l. I'm in the UK. It's a lifeboat and general run around when you are at a destination. Unless you have to use it in an emergency you won't be bombing down the freeway so a few extra mph for cruising is neither here or there. You don't have to keep up with the traffic and out drag the trucks. Cost of the engine swap won't be cheap for the perceived advantages you are getting. VFM? Not really. Have fun.

If you can't get up to 65mph in the US you will get flattened by a truck, for real. I have a Chevy Tracker (same car, different name and a few years newer) and I only drive surface roads, never freeways because the only way to get this car up to 70 mph is to drop it from an airplane.
@danielzhang19162 жыл бұрын
most cars here in the US have at least 120 hp, and everyone drives 75-80 mph on the highways, a small engine is not going to be enough to drive on the highways here

I had a hardtop for seven years then a soft top for 26 years. I took the 94 model to around Virginia beach to a back yard Samurai enthusiast and it put power steering out of sidekick in it. Problem was my wife then fell in love with it and drove it all the time. We used it as a toad for our snow birding trip to Florida for a couple years. Most of the time when we stopped at a gas station we would get someone talking to us about it. We finally decided to get rid of our motorhome so we finally sold it. We both loved it. It was a beautiful dark blue with a two piece hardtop like yours but the back came down and had a door on the flat part of the topper, also pretty chrome rims. After one winter trip to Florida pulling a bumper pull we decided we missed our motorhome too muc and got another but the Samurai was gone. Now we use 2012 CRV. By the way the 94 ran much better than the 87 bcause of the fuel injection.

I had an '87 Samurai for a number of years in the 90s. Had a great time with it and while I didn't do much off-roading with it, I could go places that Jeeps couldn't. It's really hard to get a properly setup Sammy truly stuck. You will notice the wind blowing you around a bit, but after the engine swap is done, you won't have to work to hold a speed more than about 68-70 mph. A headwind will reduce your speed considerably... I would have enjoyed my Sammy for a few years more had I been able to do that engine swap. Oh, and I rarely needed AC as the windows down and rag top off was just awesome! Have a great time with your ride, you'll love it!

Amazing find! We had a 1986 Sami for about 6 years and I did a lot of work on it. I kept the 1,300 cc engine because it was in great condition and was fairly low miles for the age. I removed the carpeting and covered it in multiple coats of paint in bedliner after resealing all of the seams. We flat towed her for many trips behind our 2 motorhomes. While in Branson, Mo. it was an absolute blast to drive in all the hills, it was the perfect tow vehicle for us. Unfortunately we acguired a 2011 Chevrolet HHR with an automatic transmission that was capable to be flat towed so my Sami went to another owner. We named her BEEP due to the horn and her size. When we got her we paid $1,300.00 for her and sold her for $3,000.00, today one in similar condition would be around what you paid for yours, I enjoy your channel and the renovation of Clemintine, Keep them coming!

My brother bought on of the first ones that hit the American market in 1986. We literally drove that thing into the ground. We finally gave it up when we removed the rear drive axel and drove it full time as a front wheel drive vehicle. The backseat is not all that practical. It was so rough, it was named the, “SEAT OF INFERTILITY.” You are correct about it being a bit underpowered. However, speed limits were a bit lower back them. I remember driving it with the accelerator to the floor and not worrying about getting a ticket. Then again, you could get a lot more speed with a good tailwind. I did drive a friend’s LIFTED Samurai on the freeway. It was very different as it was very top heavy, and you could feel it lean with each lane change. Although the 1.0L engine was small, it was the easiest to work on. You could change the oil completely from the topside. All you had to do from the bottom is slide the pan in and out from underneath the vehicle with your foot. Yeah, it was driven like it was stolen. I want to say it was rolled at least twice, but my brother just got out of the vehicle and pushed it back onto it’s wheels. I believe we had a wooden rear bumper towards the end of its life. I think the perfect name for yours would be, “CHERRY BOMB.” 🍒 💣

We towed one behind our class C back in 1988! If I could find one in that condition I'd buy it in a heart beat, much better than a Jeep.

I think “Red” is a good name. Sounds cool, tough and loyal. Like someone who would have good stories to tell.
