This channel is great brings back a lot of memories ! my first bike in 2001 when i was 15 a 1988 yz125 Lol it was old a little beat up and faded... but it had stuff done to it ! and was someones race bike back in the day for sure ! It had raspy pro circuit pipe and silencer ,reeds , possible newer ignition or something and maybe a shaved head because mine had hard top end power ! Also one afternoon I rode it over to my friend Dustins house who had a xr 100 so we could go trail riding and his step dad who had a cr500 walked out kinda laughed at it looked at my bike closer asked does it start??? first few kicks ? I said oh yeah started up revved it then shut off and he laughed really hard and said Cool I remember when I raced 125s and 250s ! then said here take this and splashed race gas in my tank and topped it off ! I was like damn this is the real shit now ! my bike ran like a pissed off bumble bee I was hitting rev limiter in 5 gear way too easy I needed taller gearing for that lol Fun times

Great looking bikes. 125cc two strokes are a blast to ride in the woods, so light and even the worst handle well in the trails.

I had an 89 YZ125 and it had the same kind of power band mid to High, and had KYB suspension great suspension. Went through several clutch baskets.

I never rode an 88 yz 125 but my friend had an 89 . I totally agree that the Hondas of the same era had vastly different power bands. The 88-90 yzs are great looking bikes IMO.

Love your hard work. Heres one for you.. The history of MX wheel sizes. We still have 21 inch front wheels from the seventies, maybe earlier. Who decided that, and why is it still the same. We had a short stint of 20 inch in the 2000,s, and even the 23 inch in the eighties on Hondas. We also saw 17,(XR500?) 18, and now ninteen inch rears common. Just an idea. Keep up your great work.

Has there ever been a successful dyno run for a 1985 rm250? For that matter was ktm's 80 ever tested after 86? The 87 was supposed to have been a new engine altogether and no'one that i know of ever tested it.

I have all the mags from 1983, and i don't think the YZ was ranked #2, it was 3rd, with the RM tied for 3rd or 4th
