My Mother had an 1989 from new - great car never a problem with it at all (traded for a new 1994 at 93K miles). It was a barge to drive but road excellent and never a problem with car. The only thing I did not like was it was so big that it did not stop very quickly.

The Lincolns were a little more popular. Learned how to drive in a ‘84 Sig Series with a similar spec (Twilight blue, velour interior, but it had the wire wheels, moonroof, digital dash) and took a triple black leather interior ‘89 Sig Series to prom. You’re a little weird for liking the hubcaps like that lol. Both of my dad’s had the aluminum wire wheels and I took great care to polish every single spoke by hand once a year. Loved seeing those things sparkle in the sun when she got pulled out of the garage.

i read somewhere that 1988 towncar was most reliable car ever built , im sure 1989 is pretty good too,
@melvinharris78593 ай бұрын
Well, they are reliable, but I certainly wouldn't say any 80s Town Car is anywhere close to being the "most reliable car ever built". The 302 is solid but the AOD is known to have failures past 100k miles and sometimes under that. They also aren't particularly well rust-proofed and the suspensions and steering tend to eat up wear items more than most cars.
@blankblank41303 ай бұрын
Lol
@ATLcentury3343 ай бұрын
They are quite reliable. These cars are known to be upwards of 300K miles. The Crown Victorias of course are the same. That’s why they were preferred for cabs and police cruisers. In the 1980’s Dearborn Michigans police force, the city where Ford World Headquarters was, had all Lincoln Town Cars for their police cruisers. It was a little strange seeing a Town Car decked out in police livery with blue and red lights on top cruising through Fairlane Mall.

I honestly don't know how anyone can complain about the wire wheel covers. I think they look great. Anthony, you have to stop referring to these as hubcaps. Hubcaps cover the center of the rim, whereas wheel covers cover the entire rim.

Mine has the full cloth carriage ( Dark Blue ) roof with all exterior trim in Gold anodized including trunk lid mounted luggage rack. Your Lincoln is absolutely stunning and an incredible find. As an aside perhaps you are aware of a fellow KZbinr Tony's Car Care whose parents were in a roll over accident yesterday in their 1989 Lincoln Town Car. Fortunately his parents were able to exit the vehicle on their own ( Mother 78, Father 80 Yrs. ) but the car is totaled. They were sideswiped by a small Mitsubishi at a high speed. Please reach out to them as they are looking for another 1989 Lincoln. Thanks Tony for another great video!

A royal dark blue like this color is definitely a chart topping favor for me. What a beautifully preserved car. Definitely somebody had a lot of pride and ownership to keep a car that nice for so long. One of my good friends has an 88 Town Car with that interior. I would almost argue. It’s a bit more quiet and a bit more comfortable than the leather interior. Even at distance you can tell that this car is a Lincoln. No confusion with another brand. The 88 and 89 town cars are some of the most robust reliable cars Lincoln ever made. Once they introduced multi fuel injection for 86 and subsequently putting in a double roller timing chain without nylon gears for 1988 those cars would easily do 300,000 or 400,000 miles without a worry. The mileage on this car it’s like buying a one year old 89 Town Car certified preowned. What a deal for 16 995. Right colors. Phenomenal condition. Nicely serviced. Turnkey ready to go.

Maybe this isn’t the place to admit this, but years ago I had a business attempting to sell office chairs built out of car seats. I found a car nearly identical to this in a pick-a-part in what seemed like drive in condition and decided I wanted to expand into sofas. I tore that poor car apart because of busted door locks, but pulled both front and rear seats: this was in 2010. Never built the sofas for my business (which died not long after- everyone thought they were cool but nobody wanted to pay for them). Yesterday, literally, I finally put the final touches on assembling the front pair into a sofa, a process that took about two years for reasons I won’t go into (it’s not actually difficult). The rear seat got damaged in storage, unfortunately.
