I'm happy you've decided to cut out useless comments. This channel is rich of lore about classic cars, and it's a pleasure watching a professional doing his job. The only backdraw were the keyboard lions' rants about basically nothing. If they are gone, well... best channel ever. And my best wishes to your parents, I hope you can find another of these amazing cars very soon. Thank you for the happy hours you give us.

Mr. Tony - another great video and we believe you are right. While that car looks like you could bring it back to life (due to how well it is built and looks from a distance) there is just way too much to repair. That car will live as needed parts in other Lincolns - maybe even in the next one you purchase. BTW, we love the story from the other video about how you bought that first for yourself and then gave to your dad. What a great caring son. God Bless Roseann & Dan

Stevie Wonder could tell that car is totaled lol just like you said the roof. When i saw it I said oh yeah it's totaled. No way that can be fixed and once the frame is tweaked it's over. Very sad to see it because you take such amazing care of your cars and have beautiful cars & to have one totaled so quickly. It's very sad. It will be a new beginning with the new Lincoln new memories. Hope your parents are doing well and my thoughts and prayers are still with you guys 🙏

The Lincoln has tons of great parts as a donor for another Lincoln Town Car, the frame is toast not to mention the structure of the roof, you would be cutting and welding new pieces in to even make it structurally safe and sound. It would be better off being stripped down and the parts sold, it's a shame what happened to the Lincoln but it saved your parents lives and that's the main thing.

Hi, how are you? My name is Tim. I’m from New Jersey and I was commenting on your last video after the accident. Your parents experienced with this car and first I’d like to say I am very happy that they survived and at the same time just worried for them and for you as well , you mentioning how the car still runs and I respect and I’ll definitely take your word it’s totaled, but what it would make is a very good parts car. I loved how you were calling out some trolls in the comments, but I just want you to know in the future when I continue to watch your videos all try to be careful and pay closer attention before making comments and I’ll always respect you, sir. Thank you for posting this video on your 1989 Lincoln town car my dream is to own 11 day if I can find one that’s in pretty decent shape because they are really hard to come by these days

Considering the horrible impact, it actually held up pretty well since it's metal and body-on-frame. I used to have a Crown Victoria LX of that same year (before it was stolen by my father). They're strong. But I'm really sorry for your loss of this classic Panther but I'm glad you found another that looks just like it in good condition. They're very hard to find!

What a bummer. I'm glad your folks are ok. The moonroof must've been a rare option. With all the body and frame damage I agree that this one is done. When I saw your first video I didn't see the frame damage. If it was just the fender and suspension, without the roof damage it prolly would've been fixable.

Sorry it happened. I'm glad your parents are OK. They are not replaceable. I had a very similar situation with my 1984 Oldsmobile 98 2dr. The car was originally purchased new by my dad. He handed down to me. So it had a lot of sentimental value. Long story short the car was involved in a very bad accident like your car. I needed a donor car to fix mine. At the end of the day it was a lot of time and money. Now I was able to get my on the road, however if I had it all to do it all again. I'd let the car go. Best of luck. Your doing the right thing

Tony I’m so happy the car stood up and protected your parents so they could walk away from the accident . When I was a kid growing up we had 3 white town cars . A 1983 town car continental then a 1985 town car then a 1989 town car. They each came brand new. All 3 had the wire rims and all had moonroof, but the 89 also had trailer tow pkg so it always rode at the right height . It had full dual exhaust and the JBL CD player . Loved growing up with these cars and I learned how to drive on the 85. Nice to see them on your channel. Ignor the creepers

I am so glad your parents will get another vehicle. The negative comments were uncalled for. That person who told you the car could be repaired, needs to have their head examined. In 1998, I had a 1989 Ford Escort with no A/C. It was my first new car out of college. I was at work when a thunderstorm came through. The winds were blowing hard enough to take a tree out of the ground in the office parking lot and land on my car and two others. All three cars were totaled. Mine was one of them. I loved that car for 9 years, but it was not worth repairing. The insurance company gave me $3,300 for the car because I kept it in good condition! I was shocked because I thought the car was worth less than that. With your parents insurance claim, make sure you speak to the claims supervisor if the claims adjuster is unable to answer questions. Also, if you are able to, hire an attornery to go after the kid who hit your parents. The kid is 100% liable for what he did and he should not get away it. I worked for an insurance broker for almost 25 years and retired in 2020. I heard plenty of horror stories from my co workers who helped insureds with auto claims. Best of luck with getting your parents their new car and sending postive vibes too. Keep us posted!

Even if the car was repaired and I would not repair it I would not want it. The force of a wreck like that engine seals and everything else you cannot see will have issues as well. Can't imagine how anyone would think that poor thing is repairable, regardless of whether or not they skipped over the whole video. You just need to look at it once to know, the old girl is done for. How the heck could you ever replace the roof.. It's like you say, most of that car has been "tweaked", nothing will ever fit right. Just sourcing all the needed parts would be a full time job. All that being said, I'm sure that the advice was well meaning and an attempt to cheer you and your parents up. Good luck with the quest for another Town Car, hoping your trip will be successful, and this one's replacement will be featured in your next video. @@tonyscarcare5657 Thank you for sharing. You know your Lincolns. I liked how you knew immediately the cost of the option. I admit I thought digital gauges were standard on Signature Series. I am the same way with Oldsmobiles and other GM brands. I recall riding in a early 80's Mark VI and several Town Cars from the era you like. They all had digital gauges. Were the digital gauges plug and play or the wiring different? I know on the Oldsmobile Ninety Eight it was different. I know on the Toronado it was plug and play as I own a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado. On the Ninety-Eight for 1995-1996, the options were grouped as Series I and Series II. The Series II I am currently seeking had standard digital gauges. My current Ninety Eight is Series II. My first Ninety Eight was Series I. I know that I saw digital gauges on a lot of 1990's Lincoln Town Cars. I was not a fan of the headlight design from 1990-2002. I did like the 2003-2011 models. The only thing I did not like was the instrumentation cluster with analog and digital gauges. I did notice too the Mercury Grand Marquis really got close in terms of features and options to the later Town Cars and sharing parts.

The upper and lower cowl are bent along with the frame. There is no way short of cutting off the entire front of the car and grafting on another half car. It should never be fixed regardless of value. It would take tens of thousands to do a repair. The structure is too far compromised. Even a new Rolls-Royce would be deemed unrepairable.

When my 1994 Chrysler Concorde got totaled in an accident a bunch of people told me I could fix it even after me telling them that the transmission and front axle were ruined. These people don’t understand until it happens to them. And let’s say by some miracle you were able to fix the car, it would never drive the same as it did before the accident. Like you said, everything was shifted from the force and that’s really hard to undo.

I came to watch and support a fellow Town Car lover, wasn’t expecting to have the last 5 minutes of the video here dedicated to me. I’m flattered. I don’t believe I referred to my blue car as a loaded Signature. Even though I was only 1 (born in 1988) I knew and can whole heartedly agree it wasn’t loaded. My white ‘89 with the burgundy top is loaded! I only owned the blue car for a month or two, so I can’t take credit for any damages over the last 35 years of its existence. But I’m happy to report my customers flew in and road tripped it all the way home hundreds of miles without issue! I just don't want my parents to have one that needs a lot to do with it because we're so picky. None of our armrests look like that with more miles because we've trained ourselves to keep our armrests off of them. I love what you do. i have a 1996 lexus i plan to keep as long as i possibly can. i'd be devastated if it gets in a wreck like this and gets totaled. i also have a new honda accord and youre right its like a toy car, its all plastic and it scratches super easily. the lexus is all metal and just built better.

Like I said on earlier video … older cars are made better than current cars, that likely saved their life and allowed them to walk away. Older cars are like tanks. Newer cars are mostly thin metal and plastic. It’s so sad what happened to the car 😢 😭.

If there is one good thing about this, your parents did get some good use out of the vehicle for many years and the car did get to live for 35 years, so I guess it’s not a total loss in that respect and now it will be harvested for parts That can be used on other town cars, good video, thanks for sharing with us

Big fan keep doing the videos I didn't know you've worked on these cars so long that's cool to know I have a question on mine I have 86 and my relays keep on getting hot I think I have a bad fuel pump I'm going to change it out and see if that solves a problem but yeah I have a '86 on 24's and it's funny that you're living Illinois I'm from Illinois too but I live in Vegas Glad mom and pops is okay look forward to the videos enjoy your trip be safe

Is it the fuel pump relay getting hot?
@treviscpbaby
@treviscpbaby 2 ай бұрын
@@tonyscarcare5657 Yes the fuel pump relay is like on fire so I changed them out cuz they were original relays they still had Ford motor company stamped on them so I changed them out with those all gray aftermarket ones that are like 30 amps I think but it did solve the problem for a couple days and then the relay started getting hot again and what happens is I'll drive somewhere and then it won't want to start back up and then the relays on fire just so hot let it cool off for an hour and then it'll start back up and I'll get home but it loses power and acts up after the initial first drive of going somewhere I put nothing but premium fuel in it I've already cleaned the tank put in a new sending unit fuel pump about 2 years ago fuel filter changed out the fuel regulator the map sensor fuel rail fuel injectors plugs wires cap ignition coil throttle body sensor idle control valve idle control sensor put on new cats and a bunch of other work but that's what I've done for the fuel and exhaust system I did bypass a couple things and re-loop a couple hoses so the vacuum stays good in circulates well

Yeah, I'd normally be in the "It's an '80's Town Car, not a Camry that you see 10 million others on the road!!!! TRUST me, it's worth fixing!!!!" camp, but looking at how the frame is buckled, I can tell it's a goner.

Hey Tony, my opinion by looking at the video is that this car is not worth fixing…having said that, I agree with you…if someone wants it to restore, then buy it and more power to them. It is such a shame that such a nice, vintage car has been destroyed. It does look like there are a lot of trim, interior, etc. parts that can be used. 👍

I bought my mom a 1989 Lincoln town car with that sun roof , and the rubber gasket was bad !!! I had to use a ridding lawnmower drive belt and metal duct tape , to fix the problem. Utter then that it was a great car that car actually got 34 miles to the gallon on the interstate and 32 in the city . And that V-8 was a huge motor ! But to your mom and dads car use it for parts .

UK viewer who's got an interest in Panther platform cars - Just a cursory glance at this Town Car's condition is enough to let me know that if this car was over here, the cost of insuring it after it's been in a wreck like that would be obscene. Our standards for what's considered a write off or total loss are similar to the USA, and by the looks of things, this one's what's considered to be a Category S (old Category C). It's not _impossible_ to repair it, and legally, you could, but unless it's something truly special that is absolutely worth saving (as in, something that's one of a kind, the last of its kind, etc.), you'd be burning money to do anything other than salvage what you can and recycle the rest - the cost of repairing the damage would be more than what it's worth. Ultimately, I think something that can definitely be taken away from this is it's just another testament to how good these cars are - it's sad that this one's destined to be melted down, but it went out protecting everyone inside, saving lives in the process.

But it had like 8,500 miles on it Velour interior in Navy blue metalic and blue inside. Great Condition of course. Of course i forgot the price. But if your looking for another one?

Glad your parents are ok, that’s the important thing. Sorry to see the car destroyed but you’re right, anyone who thinks this is at all fixable is a fool. It’s totaled and it’s not even a question. Look, COULD it be fixed? Sure, with enough money you can raise and fix the Titanic but anyone with sense knows it’s way beyond an economic total loss.

Well, what amazes me is we have keyboard warriors who think this car can be fixed. Every part of this car would have to be stripped right down to the frame rails, then take it from there. But, sure! Keyboard warriors know all of this from a video, and the car being intact. Loving it. It saved your parents lives. Thank it for its service and say goodbye. Take something personal from the wrecked Lincoln. Maybe the floor mats and put it in the new car.

I completely agree with you on this. There is just too much damage and the big kicker being the bent frame. Even IF you spent the money to fix it, it would never be the same and you wouldn't be happy with the results. On the positive side, it's a very worthy parts car.

Very sad. Like going to a wake. Those who say it should be fixed are nuts. It's toast. Amazingly the grill still looks good. I'm surprised a little foreign car could do that much damage to a giant Lincoln. You would think the Town Car would have squished it like a bug. You need to find a good Voodoo priest to put a curse on the little weasel who did this. Just a thought.

I agree it's not fixable. Last year I had a beautiful Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro. It had been a show car and I snagged it. Even the interior seats had been re-upholstered in yellow leather recently. I got it in late June and right before the Nov. time change a deer cross walked on the interstate early one morning. The insurance company totaled it. It doesn't take much to total them anymore. Someone snagged it from a Co-Part auction for around $2K. Probably fixable by someone if they have the $$$ for new airbags. The seats alone someone could get $4-5K for them and the V8 engine even more.
