I remember taking my 8 year old stepson to this race.. when lining up to get into the gate waiting for it to open.. they drove in a display boat Mr Pringles to display in our park.. his eyes got so big when he saw how huge these boats are,.. at that point he became a hardcore fan forever

I WAS THERE AT THE ROOSTERTAIL ON THE END OF THE DOCK WITH MY TELEPHOTO LENS ......IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE RACE!

Having just lost Scott Pierce in July, it was sure exciting to see him racing in this video. I had just interviewed him at the previous race in Miami in '89, which he won. He always had time to talk to me, and I considered him one of my great boat racing friends.

Detroit course- a demanding respectful , different, challenging, a racers race course respect or you will be floating this is the only race you survive you DONT beat was born to race for the gold cup Muncie said it best you don't win here you survive that's the truth don't take Detroit LIGHTLY I would like to add 600,000 at attendance the largest crowds EVER to see a sporting event!! This was the GRANDIST EVENT EVER BRING THE ROAR DETROIT WILL COME IN MASS AND NEVER MISSED A RACE SINCE 1977❗

It started here in Detroit Mi. Mr Wood wasn't going to be second to Europe 4-12 cyl motors? He wasn't GOING to be denied this was 1920's this combination was outrageous at the time Woods mechanic was genius to tune 4- monster 12-cyll motors In sinc without vibrating the hull apart plus you have to be a little crazy? "Smartly crazy" Attention Detroit sponsors Where are you ? all these businesses and we can't sponsor a GOLD CUP race History is watching us we have held this race since the 1920's actually 2- races a year We are- The "auto capital" The original "hockeytown" The original "7- Football team" The original "10- baseball team" First " GOLD CUP"
