If you love goal-line defense, you’re gonna love this. The Redskins and the Saints faced off in an encore rematch following their classic down-to-the wire ’88 battle (see the highlights here: • 1988: New Orleans Sain... ), this time in the Superdome. On this go ‘round, the day was all about defense - especially the Saint’s goal-line D that had the Redskins coaches throwing their hats in frustration. In the end, however, the game came down to the foot of the Saints’ best-of-the-best kicker Morton Anderson who, as before, was left kicking himself as the Redskins escaped with a hard-fought win.
You might not remember this game, but with Pat Summerall and John Madden on the call, this low-scoring but high energy throwdown between NFC rivals is well worth revisiting.
No animals were harmed in the processing of this VHS to 1080p(ish) digital remaster (unless parakeets count, in which case… never mind).
