@mikem5914 жыл бұрын
It was! Was depressing. At least against Los Angelos there was a sense of it being a magical ride for the Dodgers and the A’s would be back. There was some feeling of doom about the Reds series and represented the end of the A’s Bash Brother era. Still, it’s great the A’s won one. However, the focus was always on their losses to the Reds and Dodgers. Probably because of the shock value of those series.
@bconni22 жыл бұрын
the Reds actually had a very strong team in 1990. their lineup and pitching staff were no fluke. lot's of studs on that roster. but the one you should be more shocked about was 1988 against the Dodgers. aside from a strong pitching staff, that L.A team had one of the weakest lineups in WS history.
@pomerlain89242 жыл бұрын

As a matter of fact an unforgetable year for Caracas Lyons Fans. whats ironic is some would argue that the team in 88 and in 90 were better and didnt win the series. pretty much the same core, but im sure you know what i mean. As 88-90 were absolutely dominant. Definitely should have won all 3 years. Glad they got 1 out of that run.
@thomasnee2907 жыл бұрын
I agree, the 88 and 90 A's teams were better than the World Champion 89 A's. Especially the 90 A's, The starters led by Stewart and Welch were dominating, The Eck was lights out (0.61 ERA) as a closer and we all know about their offense (Canseco, McGuire, Hindu, Lansford, and company). They even added two "hitting machines" (Willie McGee and Harold Baines) to their already powerful line-up. I'm pretty sure McGee was even the N.L. batting champ with the Cardinals in 90, although he obviously finished with Oakland. How the 88 and 90 A's lost to the Dodgers and Reds still puzzles me, although both of those teams (Hershiser led Dodgers and Nasty Boys Reds) had outstanding pitching staffs. The funny thing is that 89 Giants had a very strong team too (Mitchell with 51 homers, Clark Williams, and Butler, plus their starters and bullpen were pretty strong too).

Why isnt Dave Parker, aka The Cobra, not in the HOF is a bit puzzling to me. Check his stats: 2 WS Rings, 2x Batting Champ. .290 career BA with 339 career HR's. Dave Parker deserves to be in the HOF.

He should have been the 1985 NL MVP, too.
@OliveOyl125905 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel I think the 1985 cocaine trials had something to do with Dave Parker not being in the HOF. Keith Hernandez isn't in Cooperstown either.
@OliveOyl125905 жыл бұрын
@Harry Engel If he won that other MVP and wasn't part of that coke scandal, he'd be a HOF with his 1,493 RBI. The fact he was a DH late in his career and him only hitting 339 home runs over 19 seasons are what's keeping him out of Cooperstown.
@OliveOyl125905 жыл бұрын
