Lesley Gore was like a fine wine. While so many others reached their peak while young, she only improved with age. Her artistry, soulfulness, and musicianship are some of the best in the business and entirely underrated. Rest in peace, Ms. Gore. I am devastated I never had the opportunity to see you in person.

I knew she was a great (and very underrated) singer, but never realized what a great live stage performer she was. I did see her live a few times, and she was great, but this whole set is extraordinary....Amazing how she could make it sound as if she was performing these songs for the first time...Plus, continuing to find new nuances and changes each time she sang them. I will really miss her.

I've listened to many versions of this song, by many different artists, some slow, some jazzy, some fall asleep boring, but this is how it NEEDS to be sung, with such emotion and power. shout to be heard. so sad she has passed, a real talent gone. the only good thing about those covers is that it helps people discover Miss Gore's raw talent.

I have a friend who once said her father told her if she played that song ("It's My Party" and I will cry if I want to) one more time, she would be the one crying. She said she got a good swat when she replied with "You Don't Own Me." Leslie Gore and that friend and I were the same exact age My daughter said that was her song (It's My Party, etc.) and she is only 44. I guess we can all relate to a number of her songs no matter what age we are. Sorry she is gone.

there are some mighty strong women who came out of the 1940s to1960s, ask my sisters and me we learned we had the right to be as we wished and that being in a relationship with a man was not the end of our own dreams or our own lives, love is not possession of another human person, true love frees that other person always, right sisters.

How beautiful Lesley Gore was at 18 years old with her stunning and beautiful blue eyes. Incredible his beautiful voice, sweet, warm, sublime, powerful and sharp. Incredible as you go up on each pitch and increase the volume with power. Before she passed away, at 62, she was still beautiful. He sang that song in the same original tone, G minor, his voice was intact, well cared for and healthy, there are very few singers whose voice is already damaged until a certain age. Bless, rest in peace.

It was known as the Melbourne Tennis Centre then (now Rod Laver Arena) - The show was the "Legends of Rock and Roll" - Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Everley Brothers, Bo Diddley and of course, Lesley Gore - compared by Col Joye. Little Richard was supposed to be in the line up, but as was to be expected, he was a "no show". This would have to have been the best concert that I have ever attended and I grew up in Sydney in the days of Lee Gordon's "Big Shows" so there was some competition. I remember suffering through the long over night haul from Adelaide to Melbourne on a "Bus Australia" coach to get there but I would do it all again in a heartbeat just to hear one more song from Lesley. RIP.
