I personally think buying a RTR is a better option as you can sell things to make a return. I still like that this version is available as I’m sure it fits into a lot of different build ideas. I would rather have the honcho(preferred) or deadbolt and sell the stuff I won’t be using. A decent honcho body or deadbolt body with cage and bumper(s) will usually fetch around $25-30 profit depending on shipping. The electronics will usually fetch another $45-50 after shipping. Some of the others like the XJ, JK and Blazer will fetch more for the body and bumpers. So that could be $70-80 off the cheapest RTR’s and possibly close to $90+ for the others. The links and shocks I never really sell, just throw them in a bin for parts bin builds or mock up, even though I guess they could have some small value. The XJ, JK, and blazer links might actually fetch something worth the effort I suppose. The wheels/tires also usually can bring in $10-20, but probably takes the longest to sell. I get that this takes time and effort and has some risk. Stripping a rtr for back up parts or selling them and reducing overall cost of base to below $300 has proven to be worthwhile for me 3 times. So that’s my route. Also, something about unboxing a rtr is fun for me, and it isn’t “unboxing videos”.
@HarleyDesignsInc6 жыл бұрын
I went thru the price breakdown of all that but decided to cut it from the video. Even with the discounts now, you can barely get to the volume of the kit and that’s assuming you can sell all of it. While I still like the RTR route, I don’t think necessarily a better value.
@Scx10diablo6 жыл бұрын
I still like that the builders kit is available because the parts listed originally are sometimes difficult to sell or just take a little while. If you have the budget and want to get things done, boom boom boom, I feel the kit is well worth its retail. I personally have a smaller separate budget for RC, so I pinch pennies and over time it adds up for me. Glad you cut all that from the video. It started to suck typing it out about halfway through but I felt committed to finishing the comment. Lol. Plus, then you would have people talking about stock electronic quality in the comments section as I know some who think those things should just be pitched in the garbage or given away.
