Nice video, I use a ender 5 plus for large prints such as helmets etc. as you have said about a number of machines it’s a little dated and slow. I’ve upgraded the machine heavily and it’s a work horse. Simple to operate (klipper) and easy to maintain. There’s nothing I can’t replace or upgrade if needed, if a get the need to feel a bit old school to tinker that’s my goto machine in a room of modern printers. The more modern machines I feel give a better overall operational environment but not all are easy to maintain and can be very demanding. There is no perfect 3d printer out there and probably never will be due to trade offs. But I really enjoy your videos as sometimes it’s interesting to see how things have changed over the years

@jareddinwiddie2332 They are Proprietary Nozzles Yes (Neptune 4 Plus and Max share same nozzle) but not problematic at all for myself. My issues where Warped bed, Damaged Ribbon cable, Bad Launch Firmware (sensorless homing and amperage where set incorrectly at launch) but other then those that's it. Took me a while to figure it all out but once all the parts where fixed, service fix pack and new firmware installed and it's been printing like a dream. 300mm cubed is the minimum for a helmet class printer, I would have included the K1 max, but I haven’t had one! The PLUS 4 is so close on the Z height, but it still counts as far as I am concerned because helmets don’t always have to be as tall as they are long and wide.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Ender 5 Plus on this list. ill admit, the stock ender 5 plus isn't great value. The value in the ender 5 plus is the SHEER amount of upgrades you can do on it. just a few of the most exiting ones are 1: ZeroG Mercury One.1 conversion. This is an open source CoreXY conversion for the ender 5 series of printers. for $200 you can basically turn your ender 5 into a Voron 2: ZeroG Hydra conversion. This adds 3 point auto bed leveling to the ender 5 printers, not mesh leveling, actual auto bed leveling. you can get kits for around $100 3: Enraged Rabbit Carrot Feeder (ERCF). This is an automatic filament swapper that can swap between upto 16 different filaments. there are also all the normal upgrades such as hotends, motherboards, motors, ect.

I didn’t have one to test, so I couldn’t include it. Yes, lots of options for upgrades for sure which can be cool for those that enjoy modding.

Creality cr10 smart pro on klipper?

A CR10 would be fun to test and compare if I had one!

I know you are not the type of guy to make this kind of video, but maybe you could do a video about tuning klipper printers? Because I bought a t300 and I am not very satisfied with it - the quality is not great and the tech support is really bad. Additionally the interface on my printer feels very slow but on yours it seems very fast and responsive. Im saying this because maybe it is all about tuning? (Even toolboard replacement didnt solve the software issues like the need to upload files for printing twice)

I don't mind doing a video on tuning a klipper machine, I think it can be super useful for a lot of people!

I also picked up a T300 in March 2024. I love the speed (printing, bed), but it's plagued with reliability issues. In fairness, once I did the dog and pony show with Sovol, they replaced the MCU, bed, heater block and nozzle, though they would not replace the tool head. It's sad b/c the printer has so much potential, however, it's definitely on the "NOT IN A MILLION YEARS " No Buy for me. I'd love an SV08 but my experience with Sovol has left me sad and broken.

Perhaps a question more for your comments section than for you (thank you for a great video!) I ordered a Creality CR-10 Smart Pro recently and I'm feeling a bit of buyer's remorse watching this video. Would anyone care to comment on how it stacks up against this list? I'm considering returning it without even opening it. Thanks!
@LoyalMoses3 ай бұрын
I’ve not used it, or I would love to comment!
@MechnoSferatu3 ай бұрын
Ok, I got it and am very disappointed! Vibes are way off on this. After frequent errors that require a plug pull to reset, it's gotten itself into a state where it can't bed level anymore. Creality is not replying to my requests to return it and I'm beyond frustrated. It could possibly be rescued by loading klipper, but it is an elaborate and painful process for this model and not for the faint of heart.

Why no creality or bamboo printers?
@LoyalMoses4 ай бұрын
Bambu doesn't make a helmet-class 3D printer and I have not had any helmet-class Creality printers sent to the studios. I would have included them for sure!

@@LoyalMoses You can't print helmets in a Bambu Lab then? I think I have seen videos of people doing it.

Remember the rules in the video? A helmet class 3D printer is 300mm cubed or larger.
