Shield generators not radars. This was revealed it RotJ when a couple of A-wings destroy one of the Executor's shield generators. The scene cuts to the bridge and an officer tells Admiral Piet that they lost bridge deflector shields. Admiral Piet says "Intensify forward firepower, I don't want anything to get through". Then another A-wing gets hit and crashes into the bridge which is just a small portion on the front of the conning tower. The Executor then crashes into the Death Star. Damn I'm a nerd.

Thanks for covering the steps and process as you build this very impressive and detailed Deathstar. I just got an X1C and will probably end up printing the little "tug" as my first print, before I dive into a multi-plate model such as this. Glad that the vertical printing turned out better after trying to print them flat to the bed. For FDM printing the best detail are always along the Z axis. Yes it requires supports compared to printing flat but when you're tring to get resin quality on LARGE print pieces this is the way.

Great Channel. Love your content. I started this with Bambu grey HF PETG which is turning out beautifully. Unfortunately one roll is not even close to being enough. I got to 83% of plate 3 before the roll ran out. I still have plate four to print. I didn't change any of the default settings. I have some other grey filament but it's not the same shade. I'll have to paint it. For anyone else wanting to make this awesome model, have TWO rolls of the exact same filament.

Looks like both parts are on the table before you start braking off the supports. You then push it over with the supports, then bin everything. Did you check the bin?

What a cool build!! Not too bad for $10. Not nit picking (really!), but something caught my eye. At 17:11, I paused the video to look at the detail and it looks like there was some extrusion weirdness on the vertical face of the first part of the lower superstructure. Is that just the way it looks in the file, or was there some issue during printing? Again, just curious. This was really cool to see. Cannot wait to see the bigger one!! Subbed!!

Love the video! After seeing it I went and bought the file. Other than changing the printer to P1P/S I was wondering if you could share any other setting changes you may have made? In particular I was wondering if you changed the quality from 0.24 Draft preset to something else. Also, wondering about the part arrangement on the plates. For me the "out of the box" 3mf placements don't match yours and after slicing the supports are in different places. Thanks for sharing the awesome video!

Hey Phil! You don’t need to actually! It doesn’t matter if they are smooth or rough because it actually dissolves the material on both sides and they weld together!

Ok, I purchased this file, and printed it (well, not quite done, ran out of filament during last big back end piece and Amazon is being slowwwwww). In the meantime I had printed the engines with tea lights in mind. Well, after 4 different tea light purchases found one that fits. (had to be 1.3"). PROBLEM with design is that once you put in the tea lights you have no way to turn them on/off if you glue the engine sections together and into the back of model. (I was hoping to find remote controlled ones but none at 1.3" were to be found). So I'm thinking magnets to hold the engine pieces in place. I'll let you know how that works once I get the filament. Problem is I started using Overture PLA+ Light Gray, but that seems out of stock thus the delay, so I ordered Overture PLA Light Gray. Hope the colors match. This thing takes a whole roll to print. But it does print very well.

I've yet to print he GA one, tho I've printed a ton of their other content :) I need to resub as annual, but at least kept it as monthly :) But I HAVE printed the Gambody one and omfg is it HUGE by default. Have it sitting on top of an old RCA 27 in tv right behind me! It's actually not that horribly complicated, and I printed it with a .2 nozzle on my X1C and mostly with support critical regions only active (Very few supports at all!) They also have the incorrectly named "add on" parts to make it the ISD 1 class, where the default model is the ISD 2 class. Add on is incorrect imo cause they can't simply be added on, they're total replacement parts for a hand full of things. I also lucked out and didn't realize until I was 2/3 printed and assembled that my printing it in all white PLA was technically studio accurate color :p lucky oopsie

I’m in the market to buy my first 3D printer soon. I purchased the Gambody Star Destroyer files for around $61, discounted. What’s the smallest printer I could purchase if I wanted to print the model at around 40”? Some of the largest pieces look big.

What’s the difference between regular super glue and 3d gloop?

Gloop is like a solvent. It dissolves and welds the parts together. In-fact the glooped portion will be stronger than the layer lines.

They are very thin, and you can adjust a lot of that, but they allow them to be sturdy so they aren't moving while printing.
