I really liked my 1989 Dodge Spirit. Drove it 14 years until someone ran my son off the road and totaled it, but it protected him well in the crash. Very easy and cheap to maintain, very reliable, never stranded me.

The Plymouth Aclaim grill makes it look nicer. I personally prefer the Plymouth Aclaim version in a sky blue color.

They were good cars. My step father had a 1993 Spirit that was his last car before passed in 1997. I inherited it and went over 150k on the Venerable 2.5 before letting it go in 2001. AC quit working which was typical but other than that not a car that cost a lot to own and run! 👍👍

I have had a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim for 6 years, good cars. Mine has the 3.0 V6 tho. Very reliable engine.

I had a 1990 and a 1994 Plymouth Acclaim some many years ago. They were very reliable. I wish I had one now. Do you know where I can Buy an Acclaim or a Spirit?

Full 6-pack of gauges, something every car should have. I do not understand why you consider a floor-mounted automatic to be an "oddity." I have had one on every car I have owned, except the 1973 Chevelle (worst car I ever owned, but not because of the column-mounted gear selector), and it is particularly useful with the manually shiftable "tiptronic" automatics I have been driving since 2001.

I like those old dodge spirit cars but the only thing I don't like those spirit cars is there engine don't last very long. There engines are usually good for 125,000 ave before you have to replace the engine or rebuild the engine for another 125,000 miles.

Hit or miss, apparently. My parents old 88 Reliant (same 2.5) went 250K+, and they actually never changed the timing belt that I know of. Which is like amazing. A kid I knew had an early 90s acclaim with the 2.5, and while the engine developed a rather annoying ticking sound, it never gave him mechanical trouble. Back to the Reliant, the dipstick was bone dry a couple of times I checked it (probably no more than 2.5 quarts of oil in the pan). Never gave them a lick of trouble. The A/C compressor failed, but that happened with just about every Chrysler vehicle with that compressor, not the engine's fault. Now, the 2.2 in their 94 Shadow blew a head gasket early in its life, so like I said, hit or miss. (the 2.5 is just a stroked 2.2).

Strange that it has an Acclaim grill and fog lights. Haven't seen one of these in years.

freeballer81 The original grill was damaged, so I replaced it with this Acclaim grill. It was a Spirit LE and had the fog lights as an added feature.

Could you kindly replace the chime in this 1990 Dodge Spirit with a scary buzzer from a 1985-89 Dodge Ram truck since a scary buzzer suits a Dodge with red interior better than a chime?

Jac2Mac it could be done, but I don't have this car anymore. My 82 Aries has that buzzer.
