That is LEATHER! all W126 cars have leather 1986 and newer, on the 300SD Leather was an option, Leather was standard on the Gasoline models such as the 380SE, 380SEL, 500SEL, Leather was standard on all W126 cars from 1986-1991

^ Yes, they've calculated the 3-4 years the original owner will likely keep it, and the 1-2 years it will be covered after a factory sponsored used car program. After that they want it off the road.

I have an 1988 420 SEL that's very similar. These cars like to go fast. They accelerate quickly. They're classic beauties. I'm going to sell mine soon though in favor of a newer and safer car. At over 100,000 miles, mine threw a rod, which we replaced at a huge cost a few years ago.

Watching this video reminded me of being a passenger on a school bus when I was a kid. Granted I have a w202 but she is way quieter, maybe this is a more demanded feature of the 90's, but when I wear headphones and listen it seems like allot of drivetrain noise. You know that revving of an engine and gear change ... maybe I'm to much of a millennial but I'm used to pure power and quick concise and delivered shifts. The w140 that was a great vehicle but sadly the transmission was to weak for the engine and vehicle weight so long haul money pit though classic and beautiful just like the 126 both are icons.

"undervalued" is exectly how i would describe a w126, you can get a nice clean SEL for less than 2000euros! i stumbled upon a 1984 280SE short wheelbase obviously but very interesting they only ask 350 euros for it which is 500 dollars. and the main reason i am interested in it is because it comes with the 14" alloy wheels the Barock wheels, dont know the english name, but the rims alone cost 500-1000 dollars without tyres, and here i get a whole legal on the streets car with it! a bargain!?;)

That´s a beautiful car and every thing looks so good and excellent maintenance , but I wonder about one thing , I saw later in the video that when it had warmed up, the oil pressure drops to 1.5 . I have seen cars with lover miles do it and then even higher miles ful pressure . Now Nathan car guru , do you know why ? Thanks

I am looking at getting a 1.8 190E as my first car, but don't know if a 1.8 is powerful enough for the size of the car and dont know if its a smooth engine. The 420 V8 engine is verry fuel efficent and has often a lower fuel consumption than the S320 V6. I once had this car in the same colur but with the walnut wood trim and would buy it in this well condition for collection reasons, but as this video is 4 years old, the car isen´t any more on sale - guess.

Great car but the us-versions got this nasty buzzing sound if door open,key is in, that's terror. In Germany u got only buzzing if the lights are on but the new cars get this terror buzzing now too in Germany Cheers Dan
