The #68 driven by Hut Strickland used a #51 Exxon Chevy Days Of Thunder car in the Daytona 500. Ken Schrader wrecked Strickland in the 225 qualifying race. Tri Star Motorsports (owners of the #68) didn't have a backup car. So Rick Hendrick loaned them one of his #51 Exxon movie cars that was driven by Bobby Hamilton in the 125 for use in the 500. They removed all of the Exxon logos, renumbered it 68 and put "Thanks Rick Hendrick" on the rear bumper (TV Panel). There was almost no footage of the car in the actual broadcast of the race, and no mention of the Tri Star/Hendrick arrangement, but you can see the car in the beginning of the movie when the field takes the green flag.

Jelios Geek Hobbies I believe both movies were scored by Hans Zimmer, which may explain the similarities.

Sr has them covered until turn 4. Luckiest win in NASCAR history though. He hit a piece of bell housing that somehow was not spotted on the back straightaway. Yet, he only lost basically because of a caution that kept him from running away with the victory, a debris caution I believe.

It was actually a spin by Bodine that caused Earnhardt the win. He had a lead of 40 seconds on lap 193. He passed Cope on the restart and was of course not going to be passed until he hit that piece of debris, which should have been spotted.
