I’m so happy Night Dive exist, even if I’m not into these specific games

We had killing time for 3DO in 1995. It was awesome back then. What a time to be alive.

I have several Nightdive dream projects 1: A Rebel Moon and Rebel Moon Rising collection 2: A Bethesda Terminator game collection (Hopefully adding Shotguns to the T1 game because while it was definitely a very ambitious game I fail to understand how anyone thought failing to include Shotguns in a T1 game made sense.) 3: Quake IV

That 3DO Magazine review of Killing Time was actually spot-on. No, FMV technology ended up not being the specific vehicle for story-driven gameplay, but motion capture still serves the same purpose. And yes, many games today use that approach as a gold standard.

I would love to see Nightdive tackle some games that got lost in the shuffle of the 32-bit era. Kartia: The Word of Fate, Koudelka, Dragon Force, Albert Odyssey. Heck, if Konami would be willing, I would love to see them revive the N64 and PSone Goemon games

I would love to see them remaster or even remake redneck rampage . The original left much to be desired in terms of gameplay and a Nightdive rendition could be legendary

QOTD - A more realistic hope for a remaster or remake would be for Nightdive to take on the rest of the Star Wars Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games. Those were great. I really enjoed Dark Forces and I hope they continue to take on the rest of the series. Those other games came out during a time where 3dfx was common in graphics and the games from that era in PC gaming don't play real nicely with modern hardware. A pipedream - a remake/remaster of the very first three Need for Speed titles. NFS 2 and 3 were the very best experiences I ever had with racing games on PC I have never been able to replicate. Gran Turismo 1 and 2 on PS1 came close but when NFS II and III came out specifically on PC that was something really special. The first one was just amazing in itself as nothing like it had really come out other than maybe the Test Drive Series up to that point. And I'll throw in Mechwarrior 2 because - that's one of my favorite PC games of all time and playing that on modern hardware is kind of a chore. C'mon Nightdive make it happen!

So, I looked in my 3DO ROMs folder, and looks as though I've got both of these, so there we go, can check them out. As for the question, trying to think of the 3DO games my dad allowed me to play when I was a little girl, in other words, the ones that wasn't just adult movies on the 3DO Discs. Only ones that I could think of was Snow Job and Twisted, two of which with the Live Action, wouldn't be an easy remastered, unless it was just to make them for modern day stuff to run them, so maybe I'll say one of those two.

I wonder if the 3DO magazine may not have been completely honest with their reviews

I loved the idea of PO’d but playing it on the PlayStation was rough. Especially considering how much better jumping flash played which to this day I think it holds up great playing on an emulator. I bought PO’d on the switch and they made a ton of fixes where the essence of the original game is there, but it just plays better. I would love it if someone remade zero tolerance so we didn’t have to play it through a letterbox and have a little less dithering. Seeing that they added a ton of fixes to Killing time, I trust them to find a way to improve it while keeping the essence. I have quake I and 2, Doom 64, Powerslave, PO’d and they all were done very well to fix all the issues without taking away any of the essence.

I love the work M2 has been doing on Konami's Castlevania collections, but I don't know how they get on with 3D emulation and I've always wanted to try and go back to the N64 Castlevania games to give them a fair shake. If Nightdive gave those the Turok 3 treatment with some visual touch ups, an improved camera and nice controls... it'd be an insta buy for me. Not sure if Konami will ever get to those or who will do them though.

i'd love to see a video about what games gamepro gave really bad scores to. it seems i rarely see anything lower than 3 outta 5
@DefunctGames2 ай бұрын
That's probably a topic worth exploring. For the record, between 1990 and 1999, GamePro gave 229 games a score lower than a 3 out of 5. In the same time period, GamePro gave 2,314 games a minimum of a 3 out of 5. 0.5: 2 games 1.0: 10 games 1.5: 15 games 2.0: 76 games 2.5: 126 games 3.0: 324 games 3.5: 356 games 4.0: 755 games 4.5: 409 games 5.0: 468 games

I actually used to own a 3DO Magazine but for some reason I never realized or probably never remembered that it was a U.K. magazine... for some reason I believed it was probably an American gamer magazine meant to kick start a 3DO fanbase at the gamer level just like the official Nintendo Power magazine but I felt the format of the magazine while a bit more adult also felt kind of stuffy and probably out of touch just like the leadership behind 3DO itself in the sense that by the 1993 launch, if you went to say a Circuit City store and saw a demo kiosk and marketing material... you never really got the impression that this was a "next generation videogame system" and instead you saw words like "multimedia and multi player" which felt more in line with the Phillips CD-i. The 3DO was indeed a real 3d game system but note that if you touched and examined the gamepad in those 1993 demo kiosks you would notice that the game pad did not seem as well built as a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis pad and in 1993 there was no word on Street Fighter II variant or even Mortal Kombat which the 3DO company should have right away purchased the licenses for and made arrangements with Capcom and Midway instead of those dumb comparison TV ads and magazine ads because seriously if you did not think "hey, I played Super Mario World and Sonic on those toys, so where and what is the 3DO killer game?" and you would be right to ignore the 3DO like most did and I will say that it was not really about the price because the price came down during 1994. Anyway PO'ed and Killing Time... I actually agree with the review from the 3DO Magazine here...(even though it;s glowing and biased) they knew that there was potential from those games and those game devs and back then in 1994 and 1995 there was still no way the PC could match even the 3DO console hardware which featured custom 3d graphics hardware that would allow game developers to make a game much more impressive than Doom but if only probably either Id Software did it which they did not or some genius dev team could plus I feel the 3DO should have launched with a six or eight button gamepad that was seen later and yeah unfortunately a game like Ridge Racer and even Virtua Fighter just made the 3DO look very weak and very slow considering the delay the PlayStation had to launch and that Sega of America's management staff in 1995 did their best effort to botch the Sega Saturn launch by simply not preparing for it and placing all their chips on the 32X.

Aw man, I remember playing the demo of PO'ed which came with 3DO Magazine. It's quite possibly the worst FPS ever created! Never played Killing Time mind you...

I have never seen those 3DO commercials in my entire life. I just remember the constant print ads. This time in gaming when 3D games had no polygons was interesting. QOTD, Simpsons hit n run! That Futurama ps2 game. Maybe get some ports of those older silent hill games.
