I love my 91 and its not nearly as clean as yours. they are almost twins, the only difference is I have the 305 and the cloth interior. Mine just rolled over 200k on the original engine and transmission. I have never done anything to the tranny, not even a fluid change. I might have to do some work on it this year(my comment is going to bite my in the you know what lol) Keep up the good work! Oh and when you do the spark plugs, the easiest way for the passenger side is taking the wheel off and going through the inner fender. So much easier that way!

same i went thru inner fender on psgr side spark plugs and also cleaned my egr -changed ignition module and also changed air filter and cleaned entire throttle body as well as replaced the rotors pads and fuel pump i have 175k runs great makes a deep 4barrel carb sound wen i mash gas to floor sounds greattt

also i removed my catalytic converter amd str8 piped it since emissions arent necessary here

the upper radiator hose looks quite swollen where it goes into the thermostat housing? I might replace that if I was you!

My Cadillac with a 5.0 carb started a rough idle and shuts off when the gas peddle is let off ???? And points

idle air control valve or may be fuel pump i have305 5.0 1991 and the 5.0 prior to 1991 (90- back to i think 87ish is a 307 Oldsmobile ) but may be the egr or throttle body or map sensor map sensor is on firewall middle of windshield clipped on firewall under hood - changed plugs.?

Great vid Shadow...as I have a 1991 Caddy as well I will right behind you,lol...so you are saying if the ports are somewhat blocked under the EGR,I have to take the intake manifold off??? Sounds like if I do that I should do other maintance if I have to go that far...also when you changed the thermostat..did you just undo the clip and point the hose skyward and green gushing out or did you drain??? Thanks again...

I just had the carb rebuilt it also started spitting fuel out the top. But the car still stalls started right up warms up then stalls out. Next I’ll try a mechanical fuel pump

The line that runs underneath might need to be replaced or cleaned out.

Here it from a 44 year experience master mechanic. Sadly, absolutely nothing you beiieve has any truth to it. Forget everything you think and start over. Your lock up torque convertor is controlled by a plug circuit on the left front of your transmission and has nothing to do with engine temperature. Also an engine with a open thermostat will get hot because its running on gasoline. It can only cause your heater to take longer when its cold. Also an egr has nothing to do with how an engine runs. Thats why mechanics and engine builders use block off plates after they become legally exempt . Im am very sad for how you have wasted your mind. May God bless you

Wrong an open thermostat would over cool the engine because coolant is constantly flowing into the engine. A stuck closed thermostat would not allow coolant in the engine and would overheat. I did also notice his coolant reservoir was low which was probably another reason why he wasn’t getting good heat.

I really hope you just mixed up your words because if you’re really a 44 year old master mechanic, that would be sad for a 2 year old mechanic to know basic cooling system functions.
