What an unbelievable atmosphere... The TV broadcast just doesn't capture this at all. Two screaming Honda V12s leading the pack on home soil to a one-two finish and championship like unbeatable monsters while horns blare from the patriotic crowd in a display of pure dominance. You can just feel the heavy, almost myth-like presence of Senna and what he meant to the Japanese people whenever he appears on camera and hearing the reaction of the crowd. When he cruises by to the grid at 1:45 there's just an indescribable aura of watching a living legend, like a superhero. There was no better place for Senna and McLaren Honda to win his three championships. The video says it all and it feels like a genuine piece of history watching it.

Plus a lot of the people there would have been workers or families of the workers from the nearby Honda plant. It would have been a great sense of pride during a time when Japans economy was booming to see two screaming Hondas at the front of the pack.

I agree with you about the atmosphere, but if i would have been there, i would for sure knok some heads down from the guys with the horns! I would be there for the sound of the cars, not some 120dB horn in my ears. :-)

This definitely is a piece of history to those of us who care and know that there will never be a time like this ever again in f1 motorsports. A time with no limits, where Honda and McLaren dominated the sport. The mp4/5/6 were just monsters with their v10 and v12 power plants.

Senna had been the best hero for Japanese fans and everybody loved him; not only pure F1 fans but also even house wives who did not know much about F1. Senna was an idol and he led Japanese F1 boom with HONDA. 1991 was the best year for the Japanese fans.
I think 1991 was the ultimate pinnacle of F1. A variety of engines and cars aswell as having incredibly good drivers and rivalries.
@alexandreknapen9469 ай бұрын
Yes and appart from the Semi Automatic gearbox of Ferrari and Williams, absolutely no drivers aids. Man and machine and that’s it. V12, V10 and V8. Quali tyres, Quali engine, Quali fuel, race car, reserve car, race engine, race tyres… All we need now was there back then. I absolutely agree with you. 1991 was THE pinnacle of F1 ! And think about it, you had Piquet, Prost, Mansell and Senna racing each others… + cool drivers like Berger, Patrese, Schumi, Hakkinen… Tyrrel and Lotus still there as well. Tons of italians teams and drivers… Fantastic circuits too… Real Hockenheim, Adelaide, San Marino (pre 94), Silverstone, Spa, Suzuka, Interlagos, Monaco… That was F1. Not the safety red flag 🚩 hybrid 3 engines a year joke it is nowadays ! It was for men, not easily offended kids as today.
Why cant F1 sound like this today .. such an epic sound

Charles Garcia because its outdated technology
@xixstrik3xix9 жыл бұрын
Tristan Miller I'll take this outdated tech over the crap V6's we have now. I think all teams should have choice on howver many cylinders they want, whatever configuration they want. However, must not use more than x amount of gas. Would make the gap to Mercedes much smaller I think
@tristanmiller52159 жыл бұрын
The problem isn't that they are using complex engines. the problem is that manufacture teams have too much of an advantage over customer teams in this current formula. The engines that teams receive as customers are b-spec engines. The complexity of the engines just compounds the problem. The problem isn't with the sound or the price of the engines its the fact that there is virtually no competition between the teams and manufacturers. There should be no difference between the ferrari engine in the Scuderia or the Sauber or Mercedes and Williams alike

Wow... This is my favorite era in F1, and until now i could not find anything that truly personifies this era. But this is the first video i have seen that truly captures it. The sound, the atmosphere, the cars.. its Magnificent!!
@u07910 жыл бұрын
It was what we humans could see and listen. It may be the best era of F1 in terms of sounds. However, F1 is like a rolling stone, I think. There's never be the completely the same F1. Technology developing is also the good point of F1, I think. Anyway, that sound was unbelievably AMAZING lol
@BeanDip96_10 жыл бұрын
And that is why i love it so much. It was really the greatest ears to Experience F1. The atmosphere of the races, the absolite beauty of tge cars, the soul splitting sounds... That is why i love it. No other era can deliver the same amount of exitement as a fan.
@u07910 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's true. Definitely the classical F1 provided huge excitement to all of F1 fans. I don't know if I liked F1 if I watched this year's F1 for the first time in my life. HONDA V12 or other engines were like beast :) So crazy sound.
I really cried. I clearly remember my parents took me to this suzuka GP in 1991 when I was a little kid. It's so sad that we can't hear those crazy f1 sound anymore. but hond will come back to F1 in 2015 with Senna and Soichiro Honda's spirits!! Go Honda!!

As I'm watching this it really brings me the thought that nothing hasn't changed when you're in the crowd. The noise is freaking nice and the wait for upcoming cars is always there. TV makes it looks so... I don't know how to say it, you can't get the same feeling

Thank you so much for sharing this video!! Why do i keep watching these movies again and again, year in year out..... This is indeed some of the best F1 ever. Senna, so good, so pure racing (yes including the bad-ass behavior sometimes), and that Honda sound... I hope that somewhere in the future i am in the privilege to hear the original in real time.... But those Wiliams sounded great too, not to forget the Ferrari's. Actually the whole field in 1991 Today's formula one is just a circus. And i dont mean like they mean f1-circus today.

Such an amazing and fantastic moment! Senna for ever!
I'm realising more and more that with F1 and the WRC the so called professional programme makers completely miss what the spectator videos can capture so easily. Thank you so much for posting this, and let's hope that F1's new owners stumble on it.
@marekmisztal25426 жыл бұрын
Tony Lockhart unfortunately the f1 new owners are retarded :( they introduced ugly af safety device called halo (it's not very effective because objects can easilly fly through this thing and it just adds weight to the car) and banned grid girls just because some stupid feminazis got offended! if i owned f1 i would let the teams decide what engines they want in their cars allow refuelling cars during the race and set the limit to 1500hp because f1 needs to be insane as fast as possible and exciting not boring eco friendly and politicaly correct
