it's the P-porting that makes it brap so much at idle, stock ports like in a mazda rx8 sounds really smooth. You can compare this to a piston engine with huge cams

Fuel economy is also relative. I say this because the 787B was the most economical car out of it, the Mercedes and the Jag. That is one of the several factors that helped it win. It was the only car out of those three that could still run 'flat out' and not run out of its fuel allocation. The other 2 had to hold back a little to conserve fuel. In the Mercedes case, it was still doing fine until it broke down and the Jag didn't have the fuel to chase the Mazda down and could only hope it too broke down!

On this race engine unlike the production ones, oil must be premixed with the fuel and is injected as a mix of oil and fuel per each side of the rotor per revolution. It's to warm the motor up. Notice how they give it some gas to get the rpms up a little for a while before they rev it? That's to warm it up to the point where it's safe to rev the engine.
