There was a chance that I am on this video - but I wasn't. Still a nice collection of memories ... I wished I had written a diary when I was there. Thanks!
It was when I was working at a drugstore in Ameyoko street. But unfortunately I couldn't find my younger self.

Wow, that abacus contrasted with those commercial calculators. Relatively speaking the handheld IC calculator is a recent invention yet as a standalone device it's already outmoded for many people.

Yeah, I was just there to buy a set of Yamanote Line strip tickets (kaisuken - 11 for the price of 10), but thought I'd record the scene while I waited. Looking at it now, it's historically lucky that there was the juxtaposition of the calculator and the abacus side by side like that. I had almost forgotten about abacus use until reviewing this video while editing it. When I came here in the early eighties, the abacus was still in fairly widespread use - at small shops, at railway stations, etc., but I can't remember the last time I've seen anyone using one. What with computerization of everything, humans don't perform that function any more....

Thank you for sharing the pricious video!! Do you have video recorded old Akihabara and Ochanomizu?

A little I think - certainly there are some views of those stations. Search for "1991 Akihabara" etc. in the search box on my KZbin page.
