I remember when this came out in 1991 and the first time any of us saw level 4. We were all 10-11 years old, having just seen the second movie in the theatre. And couldn't believe they made over half the game about the future war, AND included a Skynet level, (which we all wish was in the movie). The graphics and sound are cheesy and dated today, but back in 1991 we were in awe of how much detail they gave the HKs and the 1st level.

Back then the only way to get realistic-looking sprites was to digitize real photos, but then you ended up with rather low-resolution sprites anyway. So this did count as good graphics back then.

Aside from graphics which were great, the sound was earth shattering, I still remember the bass this cabinet produced drowned out other nearby arcades at the time, also some of the best digitized sounds when this came out.

Peter Campi yes? humm i dont see that. but you can still kiliing people on that 1st stage, not? at least, i think even the game tell you: "human victims" or whatever, at complete the level and receive all the points... ps: ---- this game is pretty hard to be configurated on mameui32 emulator, for be played on joystick or mouse. i know, it exist too on genesis and supernes, etc. but i like to configure all my gun games on mame for play they. and that requires many test and change the digital speed and many shits a bit complicated to do. :P greetings
@petercampi284010 жыл бұрын
cabohicks Since movie-based games of the late 20th Century usually followed the story of the movie that they were based on, we can say that all of the accidental killings that take place in the dystopian future of 2029 are do to the indiscrimination of the T800 after reprogramming. However, like in the movie, the T800 only stopped killing humans after being ordered not to by the young John Conner of the early 90s. So before then he could have killed plenty of people in the future before coming to the past and even before reprogramming. If you pay attention to the sprite animations of the humans in the past after they are taken down, they're incapacitated (clutching their shins/knees) or just wounded and thus walk off screen clutching their stomachs. Also, the rappelling solders have their ropes cut when you "kill" them, so they just fall to the ground.
@cabohicks10 жыл бұрын
hi, well it should be at some enemies, but certanly the future humans "dead" animation are so faster for can see if they fall on their knees or die or what because happens too faster.. :P the rest yeah, they dont die aparently. however, the game call those victims, casualties. and well, my english is little limited but i think this means death. inst?. anyway, is easy to pass the level avoiding kill anyone. and also make you dont lose any points. but is truth. the first part should be compared to the terminator 3 first part, where the terminator has not been reprogrammed yet. i dont like too much terminator 3 or alien 3 movies. cause honestly are bad sequels. however... the ps2 t3 redemption game are excelent! and includes many things on intros never seen before on movies. the same way, alien 3 master system game is pretty good and fun too. but their final boss have a nasty pattern, that could make him looks like unbeatable. however, there are ways for kill him and complete the game. i recommend you both games, cause both are pretty good!. greetings

What memories! Lots and lots of quarters and good times with my sons! It was hard to get an open machine back in those days. In order to beat the game, all you needed was quarters, time, and the ability to pick up and properly use the M79 grenade launcher in the last level. I think the average time that we did it in was about 40 minutes using twin guns and abut $25.

Its more difficult in the later stages, but when an endoskeleton gets right up front you can shoot them in the head and if done correctly it will say Shoot the CPU and a yellow cpu jumps up and falls straight down, if you manage to shoot it you get a randomly generated reward like a rapid fire refill, shield, even a nuke.

This was such a great game when it was in the arcades. It featured two machinegun controllers with force feedback. Sometimes the feedback would overwhelm me for a second LOL. Bear in mind that if you're playing as 1 PLAYER only, you only need to destroy everything that's in your half of the screen. So if you're on the left half, don't bother with any missiles or other threats on the right half of the screen. This game was totally unfair of course, being an arcade money guzzler. But I got pretty good at it that I didn't need to restart untill the Jeep section. I always lost the jeep. After the Destroy Cyberdyne, it became even more unfair because little power ups and almost no extra score. I never finished it but I watched as some other dude finished it.
